Underworld have gone pop!

I fucking love that new song... and the rest of the album
sounds killer as well... I listened to bits of it in the
store, and actually am getting it for Christmas... hey, all
this talk about going pop is so stupid... who cares if it's
pop? Just because a lot of people might start to like a
piece of music, does that mean you have to stop liking it to
be into IDM? Come on now... that's so fucking stupid... and
really, if a group releases the album they want to release,
the one they felt they should've made, how is that
considered "going" pop? Blah, I like what I like, whatever
the fuck it is... some people need to open there minds to
more types of music, and who fucking cares if it's pop...
just like what you like, and be proud of it... I enjoy being
special in a sense for liking IDM, and Aphex Twin, BoC,
Autechre, etc... it's kind of like an exclusive club... but
I also enjoying liking music that is popular, that you can
hear on the radio (sometimes, now 99% or what is on the
radio is the BAD kind of pop), and that you can talk to
other people, other people who aren't as into music as
myself, about...

so yeah, I love that new Underworld track, think the new
album will be all killer, and I love Daft Punk... speaking
of which, I really need to get Discovery... and you know
what? I don't care what anyone thinks about that...

I also think some people think too much about music... like
isn't music supposed to be emotional and all that? I suppose
if you like music that is complex, fine, but too me music is
all about an emotional response... so, I really don't care
if a new release by an artist is more complex, less complex,
a step ahead, or a step back from their previous album... if
it touches me in some way, then it's all good!! I think
people have pretty lofty expectations for their favorite
artists... now you can't seriously expect an artist to
constantly revolutionize music, but you can expect them to
improve... but even if a new release isn't a big
improvement, it shouldn't be a huge dissappointment just
because of that... music that might repeat ideas that have
been done can still be good music...

yknow

after all the messy stuff (as we call it) that my mate and i
have done over the years, weve become dead keen to do
something relaxed, friendly, and tidy

we were cruising around diggin roxy music, and yeah, well
weve learned a lot from doing wacked out electro, but we
feel ready now to drop the anxiety and completely change our
style. tastes change, its great to feel like were not boxed
in anymore, and writing the same song again and again

on here is a pretty thorough example of where weve been

http://www.members.iinet.net.au/~jtrio/

but yeah, things are going to be a lot different this year

I like some underworlds' songs. Like marlowe said, the rest
are boring.

Od, is right, 7\fx could be considered pop. If you were to
ask people who are some mainstream electronic artists (not
shit local DJs and such) a hefty chunk would say 7\fx.

The guy made some breakthrough sounds and people caught onto
it, so naturally he's considered "popular" in the electronic
music world.

a band can go "pop" and still stick to their roots, really
if the masses start ot liek them its considered pop. when
they change their music to achieve that in a " selling out "
manner than its sad :(
