Looking through my CD (and MP3) collection, there's one
theme... DICKS!!!!

And other then some embarrasing older purchases (Garbage, No
Doubt, Alanis Morrisette, although I like Jagged Little
Pill), I haven't bought anything by a person with a vagina
in a long time.

I hear them on the radio all the time... Sarah McLachlan,
Alicia Keys, etc... not bad stuff, but no real ''crazy''
sounds. Pop friendly ''emotional'' songs. But there's a lot
of cheesy female artists that try to be more ''cutting
edge'', like Kittie. Trying so hard to be so hard rock...
ugh.

I know about Bjork, but my procrastinating self is still
waiting on her... soon I'll get around to her (haven't like
what I HAVE heard very much.) Tori Amos is pretty good.

Any NON-pop female artists worth hearing, what are your
faves... None of those damned ''singer-songwriters'' (as
good as some of them are) that clutter the radiowaves. Maybe
I should listen to Mira Calix, she's got a sexy husband.

All the hardcore important awesome artists have cocks.
Beatles, Stones, Aphex, Autechre, Floyd, Jimi... my
collection has too much testosterone, not enough estrogen.

Jagged Little Pill
Garbage
Version 2.0

three excellent albums right there. i never listen to the
alanis cd but if i think it's solid, full of well written
and well performed songs - in short, a classic album.

i'm going to look through my cd list and paste the entries
of all the female cd's i recommend to you personally.

stay away from mira calix tho, her music blows.

I have that Garbage album with the pink cover... it wasn't
too bad. Butch Vig is a glossy as hell producer. But it's
not something I'd listen to now.

Jagged is damn good, but now Alanis has lost the little edge
that she had.

voice, and i have that fiona apple album, which is also good
although you do feel like a man hating woman after listening
to it[im a man by the way].It really depends on what your
into,i have lots of other albums with female vocalists[the
last 4hero album was alright as well],but none i really
listen to,like you say mainly testosterone driven music.

oh yeah, who is mira calix`s husband?

I recognize pretty much everything there, and I LIKE pretty
much everything there. But I'm not overly familiar with
them... just have some Cranberries and some Garbage, I'll
look some of them up.

Who were those girls Bjork was with in a band in Asia or
something... the Sugar Cubes, or Shonen Knife or
something... saw their video on Much Music, pretty good
stuff!

Yeah that was Sugar Cubes, theres a remix of a tune called
birthay which is good in a 90s kinda way.

Sugarcubes were an international pop group, it's good for
pop music but honestly i think you'd be much better off
buying Post or Homogenic.

Yeah, I know she's come a LONG way. I'm going to make it a
goal to get Homogenic and Selmasongs and whatever else
everybody praises her for. She's cute in a weird elfish way.

or Debut... honestly, i love all her albums, but i think
Post and Homogenic would be the best places for ophecks to
start at

i agree about Mum! they're excellent.

also good: Cat Power

neurone: boss hog are fun punky 90s music, "i'm not like
everybody else" is one of my favorite songs

Sugarcubes 'Hit' was also a great single (their biggest UK
'hit' if I remember).

Anyway,anyone remember 'Lush' (sorta like
'Elastica'...who?!) and 'Curve'(sorta like a harder
'Garbage')?

oh, dancehall crashers. i love "lost again", i've heard a
couple of their other songs that were more rockish. pretty
good.

RobE: lush are lush! "ladykiller" used to be my jam in the
mid-90s. curve are STILL excellent.
