Check Stina Nordenstam.....a beautifull voice, one of the
bjorks inspirations. Some tracks are soooo intimate!

Bjork is great....... start out with Post.... she got some
help from tricky on that one.

Also.... I think Andrea Parker is very good. Her dj kicks
albums rocks it. And her album with the disco ball on it
(forgot the name) is also pretty good.

Spice Girls are good IMO...... but its not for anti pop
people. They were the trail blazers all the britney clones
and britney herself. There first album was very good. And
there last one... Forever... is like an underground pop
album... I dont live in the UK but here in the states it was
unheard of. The media here really ate them up and shat them
out.... and for that I cry

*crys*

I am surprised that no females here have gotten into this
discussion...... cause it seems pretty shovanistic and dick
and balls=better heavy

Yes, what happened to my woman singers...their all going R&B
on my ass. The only good singers as some mentioned are not
around anymore or they make that one bad album( alanis)

most of my MP3's are also chicks!!

crazy
( i think this would finally be the end of this)

People, I've read you mention Stereolab, I think they are
really GOOD musicians, very artistic too...

but you forgot to mention the greatest band from Holland:
THE GATHERING

Buy (or d/l) the "Mandilion" or "Nightime Birds" albums to
get a very very very good band, GUARENTEED :)

everyone forgot ENYA......ehehhe

j/k.....well actually i DO like her.....however keep in mind
that while the fairer sex is sadly under-represented in many
fields including music........QUITE a few of the male
species credit them with INSPIRATION....they are the MUSES
behind the genius =0)

i love tori, bjork, beth, sarah, and alanis.....they pull
off that EMOTIONAL edge that i think is missing from a lot
of male singers (maynard is an exception there =0) )

Women can't make music for shit. Their small brains make
them best suited to domestic labour and their right to vote
should be repealed immediately; our destiny is too precious.

Now hang on. I'm not prejudiced.

Seriously though, Ceri and I were waxing lyrical about why
music, particularly of the genre we talk about, is so male
dominated. You only have to look at the membership of this
board to see the stark disparity in gender participation.

This is obviously a product of our sexist society and rigid
gender roles but I still can't form a sufficient explanation
for this. Any ideas?

I never said you were predjudiced, just messing ;) I guess
a lot less girls like aphex.. i'm not exactly a fan, I just
know some people who come here.. same on gaming message
boards, they are male dominateds, bwcause more men like
killing things and blowing stuff up.. it's just the way
things are...

I have but she's not representative of most women. She's
baffled by my trainspottery obsession with music. She likes
books but not to the same degree. i'd just hate to
stereotype women as Ally Mc Beal watching, Cosmo reading
perpetual dieters who sit around waiting for Mr Right.

'Loe' means he just wants you as a reciprocal for his penis.
If it lacks that vital 'v' component then its purely base
carnal desire.
