before this gets into those he's a satan freak.lets talk about his music. As I have massive respect for Mr.Richard JamesI have the same for Manson. His music is amazing. his lyrics put me through a trance the same way Aphex Twin does. music is music no matter how you show it

mtv?? the only way mtv talks about manson is b/c of what he shows...he doesnt do it for mtv or any of those gay fucking stations he does it for his fans ...the fight song, you have to really listen to manson to judge him. Trent has his own shit, I love trent the same way I love manson. Manson is just an amazing singer, he really know hows to get to those people who fear life.

I think he is good business man as he knows how to make money by maniuplating the media. whether the media knows it or not is a different question. however, that is as far as my respect goes. I've never been able to get into his music at all. as far as him being "satan freek", he was probably called that most by consverative christians who understand little about the music industry. its sad because these people did exactly what he wanted them to do. the way I see it is that they need each other. M.M. gets the attention he desires and the conservative christians now have a face to put on their latest hate flyers. a public enemy no. 1 so to speak. all the while these conservative christians have forgotten the days when they listened to Kiss or iggy pop. perhaps if they remembered those days they might understand that M.M. is going just a little further than those artists did. I remember listening to bands like benediction, hypocrisy, and dark funeral so I never really took M.M. that serious anyway.
take care

anyone on this board heard of godhead? the band on man's label? i *kinda* like their stuff...the vocals are great../but the high pass filter on every single vox track was poor production work. and i think that they need to break the manson mold...they would be really great if they discovered who they really are...

I'd have to agree to the topic-starter on this one. I've been a fan of Manson's music _and_ his image (or at least most of it) since _Antichrist Superstar_. I've been an Aphex Twin fan since I first heard of him while _Windowlicker_ was on MTV. I've kind of been growing into experimental electronic music since then, but my love for 'loud' music has never suffered under this. Marilyn Manson is still my no. 1 band. Aphex Twin is my no. 1 electronic 'band'.

I used to love manson. I like/ed NIN first and more. Anti-Chris was his last good work. And I "Really Listen" to his music. I though mechanical animals was shit along with everything after that. Except that cover of Tainted Love...It's just that everything after Anti-Christ lacked the evil I'd come to expect from manson...

afxNUMB: well, either way its just an strong opinion, I can manage to listen to some of his music, but I find a lot of it [in my opinion] to be quite.. childish lyrics. Just my thoughts, I can sit through a whole CD.... maybe. Thats about it. I never really enjoyed his attitude, I mean he has said some seriously good things, but then he seems to contradict himself easily the next interview sometimes. I dunno.... the way I see it I guess.

When you get past the bullshit and image (which a lot of people seem to like with their music) there are still some great tracks on all those albums.
I can think of twice as many decent Manson tracks as NIN one's ...

i love antichrist superstar and mechanical animals... these are excellent, especially antichrist superstar, which is a "concept album", a bit like NIN's downward spiral but with a different story — in the downward spiral, the main character is controlled by everything and doesn't have any choice but to go down — in antichrist superstar, he first suffers from the world and wants to rebel against it... and he manages to revenge, he kinda takes control of the world, becomes a dictator... at the end it ends bad for him, then comes a period of peace (tracks 17 - 98), but then (track 99) it all starts again, it's an endless cycle...
(it frightens me a bit now that fascism seems to grow again, with haider, berlusconi, and now le pen... are we heading for a new catastrophe again?)
as for manson — imo, holy wood was an attempt to make a mix between the two albums, and it didn't really mix well... and tainted love was a joke...
i don't know what to expect from the golden age of the grotesque... just wait and see...

Well I like the way this thread is going, keeping it in that NIN Manson conversation. Both are great. Antichrist superstar is a great cd. His remix is cool too. I like how you all agree with me and those who dont well we know just see manson who what everyone else see's him. Not for what he is.
Rock star image is crazy, freaking music. NIN, Manson and of course Slipknot.

Yeah,he is intriguing, but I can't find many people who respect "Beautiful People" I think it's two chords.

i agree, by far portrait of an american family is my favorite manson release. but then he got rid of daisy rameriez, the main guitarist song writer on that album due to "creative differences." at that point the music lost that creepy, sickley sweet, spooky carnival, pedophiliac clown sound that made it so great. antichrist superstar had a few good tracks but the music on that one was written more by Twiggy giving it more of a metal sound; and it lost its willy wonka carnival sound. that tour was incredible though.
