bandcamp linky

Pretty nice release. They really seem to be experimenting
in recent years, though this one continues some of the
nostalgia vibes found in "further vexations" (my favorite
release of theirs, so I'm definitely biased about the new
directions). For instance, the track Them (Everyone Is A Liar But) gives
me some newer boc vibes (specifically Tomorrow's Harvest).

I like it a lot. A long term tBd fan I heard a track from
this in a mix, really liked it, then completely forgot about
it. Thanks to this timely reminder I have now bought
another Great Black Dog Album.

Did you like "further vexations"?

Also, I somehow only managed to notice just now that
Balil - Parasight, which I thought is from a Black Dog alias,
is actually by Ed Handley alone, who was indeed an early
part of Black Dog, but left to focus on Plaid in '95. So
this Black Dog is disjoint from Balil, and the changes in
cast explain the changing sound (just like with The Orb,
though I hope without the ridiculous bad blood).

"further vexations" left me a bit cold, I think. I *really*
liked "Radio Scarecrow" before it, and "Music for Real
Airports" which came after. It seems I missed a couple of
albums in the meantime.

I don't know if revpersona still pops in now and again but
he knew all about the different aspects of the make up of
early tBd, or Black Dog Productions. But since Spanners
(95....) it's been just Ken from the original 3, with the
other two forming Plaid. Though Plaid existed as part of The
Black Dog, as did Balil (and others) - to this end I believe
this is why the first Warp album "Bytes" is presented as a
compilation of Black Dog Productions, to reflect the
differing line up on each track.
