this is so fucking great. arpeggi doesn't suck! i think they
made it better. the only thing lacking is the "escape" at
the very end.

i really like reckoner.

this is totally an easy-listening album. it sounds like
something they'd pipe into a retirement home. not even my
father listens to music this polite.

offline staz on 2007-10-10 01:59 [#02130429]

cause rude music is so much better.

videotape is a really nice song but hits home just how
low-key this album is. after all the hype i expected
something up there with kid a. maybe something explosive in
spots. i'll listen again later without any expectations.

bodysnatchers is better for each listen.

the second half of the album is really good i think, the
first half hasnt quite grabbed me yet but its not unusual
for radiohead albums to take some time to grow on me

i love this album. its the nicest thing theyve done by a
long shot, but asif that makes it a bad album!
im kinda annoyed i got so into the live bootlegs. this
version of videotape is gonna get some getting used to.

offline staz on 2007-10-10 02:18 [#02130438]
Points: 9844 Status: Regular

i never really liked videotape. it sounds just the same to
me, really.

but yeah, this album is great. it's much more loose than
what httt sounded like.

offline optimus prime on 2007-10-10 02:24 [#02130439]
Points: 6447 Status: Lurker

to me http was a single, with the single being 2+2=5 and
every other song on it being a b-side. in rainbows
definitely sounds more like a cohesive album to me and not
just a collection of songs.

15 step is really nice on the second go-around.

It does sound a bit like roygbiv. Only cause of that moog
bass.

the ondes martenot makes a welcome appearance.. perhaps my
new favourite album from them!

"the ondes martenot makes a welcome appearance."

haha yeah, cos the last 3 albums have really been lacking
when it comes to ondes : P
its used nicely in this album though. it's there, but
somewhat hidden and incorporated nicely with the rest of the
music.

I like it , it's alright. I was kind of hoping for
something a bit heavier, by track five I gave up hoping for
something less boring.

It's alright ...

Big up's on the recording though, sounds fucking great
compared to what they could have done (Over compress
everything kick on other albums). It sounds like they just
had an Mbox and a couple of good mics. I like the recording
a lot.. the songs are kind of like ... OK THOM weird fish
yeah yeah ...

It's to bad there wasn't a heavier track on the album, it
could have used a couple.

The ride cymbals sound so local band it's awesome :D

Overall I really liked how it wasn't all WE'RE FUCK ED UP
LOOK WE JUST DISCOVER APHEX TWIN ,

It's worth getting for free, but I can't see it being my
favorite album anytime soon.

Good job Radiohead !

I'm on the same page as O.F.

Good album, not great. Revolutionary in its marketing, not
necessarily in its sound (as Kid A was touted), though
fairly strong overall.

I guess I had to be someone of a hardcore fan and know all
these tracks in their live context to truly appreciate this
album. I like Radiohead, but I came into this record with
zero expectations. That being said, it didnt jump out at me
like some of their other releases have.

i like most of them as compositions, and everything works
and is great, but it's not really a special groundbreaking
album.

The sound design is more consistent through the album, not
as 'messy' and varied as earlier output.

they blend rock and electronic elements maybe in a too
careful way, they chose the obvious route instead of going
into unknown territory, the safe route you might say.

so far 15 step, arpeggi and nude are my favorites.

I would have been amazed at the album had I not heard the
live stuff a year ago. As it stands I'm just pleased it's a
decent studio performance of the live stuff, though if I
were being honest, the version of 'Nude' will have to grow
on me.

they totally screwed videotape up, imo. reckoner sounds
excellent. i really don't like what they did to nude either.

hope this is going to get better but i seriously doubt i'm
going to like the studio version of videotape better than
