I don't know.. I wouldn't feel better if my best friend told
me he'd slept with a girl I dated while I dated her even if
we broke up a while back... I'd feel worse, actually, that
he didn't tell me until now, which he believes to be "an
appropriate amount of time later," as if the gravity of any
offence becomes less by time.

No, the gravity doesn't become less. Its just something that
needs to be approached very delicately, and by no means
rushed. I think he needs to wait the right amount of time. I
am not a judge of when that time is (it could be a day or it
could be a year), but I can safely guess that immediately is
a bad call.

The thing is, for quite a while I felt like this girl was a
much better friend to me than her boyfriend. She's a great
deal more intelligent and thoughtful and has the soul of a
true artist. The deepest conversations I've ever had have
been with this girl, and I'm sure that she can say the same.
A few days after I told her that our cheating physical
expression afterwards felt like nothing more than an
actualization of guilt, that we had both mind-fucked each
other for months anyway.

You guys are making this girl out to be much worse than she
is. I can tell that this situation is tearing her apart, and
her boyfriend is probably beginning to tell that there is
something wrong because she seems to be rapidly losing the
ability to show any interest or affection in him. She called
me this morning and told me that she doesn't care if
everyone knows if we are together, she just wants to spare
her current boyfriend of the suffering of having known what
happened. She told me that she wants to stay with him until
she can find a way to leave him that won't completely crush
him, though I fail to see how that would work. Every day is
fucking with my head completely.
I'm sorry about this emo-fied rants.

Also, you guys all say, "oh I would never do that.."
And that's exactly what I told myself when I would hang out
with her for her strict friendship and innocent company. But
it's difficult to look your self-denied love in the eyes in
a toddler level mind-capacity drunken state and say no.

I don't think she sounds bad. Shes just doesn't seem suited
to be in a relationship right now. You can tell her I said
that, not that my opinion holds any water with anyone that I
don't know in person, as I am no more than some digits on a
screen to you all.

However, I have experience in these matters. She needs some
time away from all of it. 99% of the time, in situations
like this the person who ends up worst off will be the third
party (you). You seem really sold on her, so even if she is
a bad person (and I am not going to assume she is without
meeting her) you might not necessarily see that she is.

I wish you the best of luck in making a decision that
benefits all three of you the most.

That second paragraph reminded me that maybe q4zzxx97 should
read Phaedrus.

Hahaha, she's probably shagging all his other mates and
telling each one of them that they're a "special friend" and
how this has to be a secret.

Most of his other (few) friends seem to despise her,
thinking that she's hogging him all for herself. But in
fact, he just needs to be with her at all times because of
his insecurities.

Ignore the nay-sayers and the negative vibes emanating from
this thread. If you like her and your feelings are real,
then go for it. People get hurt every second of every day,
and if this boy gets hurt then so be it - doesn't even sound
like he deserves her - sounds like an immature needy clingy
cry-baby.

Good luck, brother.

Thanks for your support Paul. I'll probably let this this
thread die out, as it will, though it's nice to talk to
someone about this since everyone else I know would gossip
right away.

in all sincere honesty, i think it's absolutely amazing how
well you seem to understand another person's situation
without even having met him/her. Your answers and points of
advice seem spot on. For some reason it just feels like that
anywayand i find your sincerity and helpfulness (on this
messageboard in general) truly admirable. It feels kind of
odd to say this, but i was most overwhelmed by your posts in
this thread.

and Q4Z2X, i wish you all the strength in the world to get
through this.

If she cheated on him she will most likly have no problem
cheating on you.

BUT, I mean if your looking for a good time, yeah know
dating and doing it after renting DVD`s and shit by all
means do it ... thats if you don`t give a shit about your
friend ;D

Something like this happened with my friends who were best
buddies. Time past, the chick took off with someone else,
they get along now. But dude, like small town girls have
small town girl brains. Your gonna fall in love with this
girl and get your heart broken, start planning an escape
meng.
