Clark is the future

Clarence Park had some nice moments. I also liked his 12"/ep
afterwards which had some really nice tracks on it. But ever
since his 2nd album, his output just hasn't done anything
for me. I like the catchy dancefloor tracks like Ted and
Frau Wav (Brief Fling) but they're still a case of style
over actual sunstance.

Tracks like Heliosphan have stood the test of time. I don't
think I will be able to say the same for anything from
Clarks catalogue so far.

empty the bones of you was classic, but now its sounds too
much like bibio, which i am not a big fan of. but i like you
never know what he is going to do, so i suspect body riddle
was just a phase.

I liked the last hecq album very much. Nothing
groundbreaking by any means, but it was certainly a pleasent
listen.

tell me this..how many people in electronic music put bit of
their self in the music?..not many..and clark certanly isn't
one of them so it means it's all bullshit.

what does that mean 'put themselves'?

just by making something you are putting yourself in it
because it's YOUR song.
you make it after your tastes and what you want.

it sounds to me like clark actually puts a lot of himself
into it, his soundscape and general concept is pretty unique
as far as ive heard.

That isn't a very nice argument, my dear sir. I don't listen
to music to have personalites shoved into my face.

I still wonder why Clark is being flamed on this board so
much. Influenced by, or not, the guy is a great musician in
my opinion. I can't wait to hear something new by him.

It still amazes me how much members have to express what
they don't like. I never feel the urge to comment in a topic
about a certain artist how bad it really is... Anyway, I'm
being guilty of the same now by venting my thoughts.

machines leading the way is not necessarily a bad thing -
machines now a days are good things. they are more human now
than they were in the past.

Haha! I think for me it's a bit like this.. There's the
Beatles followed by the Monkees which inspired Backstreet
boys and later Westlife. Clark is the currently the Westlife
of the IDM boybands. Mainly cover versions and a few
ballads thrown in.

That's a lovely comparisson. Although the music of Westlife
doesn't appeal to me at all I believe they have a fair
amount of listeners worldwide. Given your previous remark
about Clark being a cheap copycat (if I'm right) this
comparisson isn't that bad at all. He gained a bit more
respect from you.

Way to go ;)

Westlife are massive! as you know it's a double edged
compliment. You do the BOC board is that right?

All I do all day is search 'aesthetics'. Surely you have a
bit more taste or are you a warp fanboy?

sorry but you dont know much about music making then..

the emotion contrary to popular belief, does not lie in
planning out and creating something from the inside, it lies
in exploring sound/notes and then finding something that you
like.
then you mold it into what you feel is appropriate.
very few if any musicians have ever created something
exactly like they have in their heads, they rather explore
and find something they like THEN they put their emotions
into it.

machines are vital to human emotion in electronic music.

Yeah I play Warp records music all day long, it's an
addiction of which I can't get rid off... and believe me, I
really tried.

I totally freaked a while ago when I was watching a movie
about a girl who's taking 'revenge' on her internet date.
Suddenly out of nowhere a Warp song kicked in and the whole
movie made a sudden turn! Eventhough the various of
uncomfortable scenes it totally saved my day... can you
believe that?

I even wonder how the director came across this song you
know.. perhaps he's also a Warp records fanboy? Or doesn't
know Warp at all and just knows the artist. Either way, the
director surely has a great taste!

Even if he's unoriginal-which I don't think he is-is it
really that awful? There's loads of rubbish, samey sounding
music from other genres; at least Clark does the whole
Autechery-Aphex-Warp sound well.

the thing is clark can't seem to find any emotion as it just
turns out blank music.

"then you mold it into what you feel is appropriate"

that's the thing..why think what is appropriate? thinking
just messes up music.

Maybe not a hundred percent of the time, but yeah, agreed,
and great quote.
