Is that Rockbox thingy worth it? Do I loose any of the functionality?

The rockbox feature is choice. It loads a lot faster. recognizes all formats except wma. You don't lose any functionality, you gain it.
& you can switch between firmwares, your original or the rockbox. Loading rockbox on your player voids your warranty but so does opening up your mp3 player, which I've also done. If your player is still under warranty i'd wait.

Well, I did a little reading and nobody actually knows if it voids the warranty. Mine is just 3 months old, oh well... Doooooom! Doom on an mp3 player!!! Girls gonna love me

well, it probably doesn't void the warranty if the company doesn't know you put it on there. But if you were to try to get a new mp3 player due to malfunctions, and they saw that you installed some other software on it you super get denied.
I love rockbox & have been using it for 2 years now. The calculator & dictionary features are ace too. All of these features should come standard on an mp3 player.
