Why Aphex is the greatest?

Meaning no one is more bored of listening/reading what I
have to say than me.

I still think it's interesting no one managed to rip off
early Twin, whilst a hoard of shitbags jumped on his Drukqs
era as it's easier to disguise a lack of talent behind a
cavalcade of cut up breaks.

he makes it look very easy, but i think he really focuses on
something he starts..but it's definitelly something else to
hard work.
im always impressed with how much musicians (at least the
ones i like) know about music..its history..they're
constantly making their own music or producing other people
and they still spend so much time on getting to know
music..other artists, influental and otherwise important
musicians..it's great to see so much devotion to music..it's
kind of like jazz musicians - they constantly practise..when
they tour, when they're at home, probably while they
shit..practise & learning all their life.

aphex is well aware of what music was important in the past,
which bands/artist stand out, who were the avant garde, who
brought music to what it is nowdays..and he just continues
on that, bringing in new interesting and inovative things. i
think the biggest quality of his is that he can create music
in sort of pop form, make it sound catchy and yet it's all
avantgarde/experimental. he could probably go all
experimental and academic and 'hard to get' but it takes way
more to package that into a pop form..and he does it
perfectly.

I think he is amazing when he hits the spot, but he's
released a fair bit of shit, too. I find Autechre more
consistently high quality and interesting.

I wish Aphex released music like he did in the days of
Caustic Window. Those sound like damn good times for his
music. It's a shame I didn't get into his music until the
later releases. I'm from the Come to Daddy, Windowlicker
era. I missed out on a lot, sadly. Analord was a great time
for me because it was the closest I got to that time.

K300i: yo!

I guess it was harder to copycat his style back before the
vst-revolution took off and the secret book of
idm-trickery(fucked up beats) became known to all thanks to
the great internet.

im happy that this thread actually turned into an appraisal
of good music instead of the typical rant about analord
dissapointment.

ever since he made drukqs, i have thought of him as a
genius.

in my opinion there was 4 albums who made him: drukqs, come
to daddy maxi, richard d james album, and selected ambient
works 85-95.

I think he dropped the ball with Analord though. 4 singles
would've been plenty, but 11 was a pisstake.

I've praised the hell out of his more intricate work before,
but I listened to it recently after a long time of not
listening to anything. It was farty compared to some
professional conventional music. It has kind of a weak
skeleton, or there's not much meat on it or something. Maybe
you have to be in the right state of neurosis to get it.

He probably has some sort of brain abnormality; you can how
his brain pushes against the inside of his forehead in his
pictures, causing his eyebrows to spread apart like some
demented sadist. If anything though, he was a genius
because drukqs is just shit.

Listen to thriller's 2nd track then listen to your favorite
aphex track right after.

Listen to thriller's 2nd track then listen to your
favorite
aphex track right after.

I do half agree with that. But then I think it's an unfair
comparison, Thriller's aiming to do one thing (very well)
and RDJ something else (in his own way). I don't think he
could do a Thriller, no more than Jackson could do a SAWII.

But it's good to clean out your ears with Pristinely
Produced Pop inbetween bouts of more leftfield endeavours.

ecnadniarb was saying he's the greatest in electronica. mj
does fit in i guess.

autechre are great, but i would pick aphex because his music
is more as what most people understand music as.

I recently listened to all of autechre's music. My god it's
boring. Of course there are a selection of songs I really
like, but I think a lot of their stuff fails in the end.
"slip" is what I'm thinking about here, starts out strong
but completely loses its identity and interest. Maybe it
was because I was sick.

What am I talking about

I really love untilted

oh well

His music has affected me like no other, listening to his
songs is such a personal experience. Its amazing music can
be this good. I cannot put into words how much I love Aphex
Twin's music.
He seems to be able to poor so much emotion into the music
and give it such soul and that gives me warm feelings..

Fuck I can't comment on this without writing a thesus or
sounding like a fuckhead fanboy.

So I'll leave it, let my official answer be "yeah"

Thriller does sound very aphex. Especially in that bit
before Vincent Price speaks with that wicked bass sound.

Aphex must get physically ill by things sort of threads. For
someone in the entertainment business he seems to hate
attention.

think drukqs is his finest work. I really have alot of time
