my next appointment is this friday and I'm afraid I might be getting better. yesterday I didn't have a temperature at night, and today I felt pretty much fine (except a little nauseous when eating, but otherwise no headaches or fevers) and I only have a temperature of 99.1F right now. I'm still shitting strawberry-chocolate desserts though, and there's no sign of that letting up.
I'm afraid of going to the doctors and not having a fever or any outward signs of distress, if my doctor sees me looking healthy he'll completely dismiss me

If he won't believe you and when you gave a stool sample it had no blood, why don't you take a picture of it next time it happens and take it with you? It sounds a bit gross but it's necessary. This is a big deal. If he won't help you, tell him you want a second opinion and ask to be referred to some sort of specialist. You need to be firm with him cos this is a serious thing. Blood and... slimy discharge/jellyfish aren't meant to come out of your ass.
That also isn't what happens with Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Maybe some unbearable stomach cramps and bloatedness but it really isn't common to shit blood with it. If you DO have IBS then it's a very serious case of it, and he should be giving you some tablets (like "Colofac") to try to see if they'll sort it out or at least get rid of the symptoms. At the very least he should be giving you advice to help you change your diet to avoid the foods that are triggering it off. He shouldn't just be saying that it'll go away by itself. It might do, but it probably won't as it's been going on for 3 weeks now.

I didn't say my stool sample didn't have blood, I said it was entirely blood (no poop was in the sample). My doctor didn't see it though, this was at the ER. And I'm positive it isn't irritable bowel syndrome, unless it's a new kind with completely different symptoms. If my doctor does nothing this week, I'll be going to a new doctor.
Anus update: at 5am this morning I woke up to excruciating anal pain. It was like a really bad charlie horse (bare in mind, people have different definitions of charlie horses, but it's the only way I can describe it) right inside the anal opening. I squatted on the toilet and farted and leaked blood for a few minutes and it went away.

I have Ulcerative Colitis so I completely sympathize. But man your symptoms sound extra bad. And speaking from experience, I say you should do whatever you must to get a colonoscopy. They tested my stool and my blood and everything else 'till the cows came home. Nothing.
I hope you don't have Crohns or something.

I know I don't know you very well, but quite honestly I am worried about you, man. You don't need me to tell you that your symptoms are serious, but please get to a better doctor as soon as you can! You might be within the window to treat whatever affliction it turns out you have, but if you keep putting off you could be in serious danger. Please go to a different doctor ASAP.

I went through the same thing and it's not like it was ass cancer or something. I think he said his dad has Crohns? With a family histroy, could very well be something like that. Just relax and FORCE your doctor to look inside your butt, or get a new doctor, sort it out.

I don't mean to scare him, but ever since my grandmother past away last year due to complications from internal bleeding, I try to encourage people to get themselves seriously checked by a doctor when I hear of things like this.

Yeah I agree. But at the same time, I guess I like the casual ''it's probably nothing THAT serious'' approach rather than ''that sounds damn serious!'' approach.
But yeah either way, you have to hurry up and confirm that it's ''probably nothing THAT serious''.
I can't see it being cancer or whatever.

Well, your philosophy probably saves lives, believe it or not. Mind over matter/body, as they say. If you can convince yourself that you are sick (hypochondria) then shouldn't you be able to convince yourself that you are not?

Ok so I didn't actually make a point, but, perhaps if Scup thinks positively through this ordeal, the healing process will be eased?
note: I am not condoning self-diagnosis/treatment. I still feel that Scup should visit a doctor but I believe that keeping a positive mind can still be beneficial even through the worst diseases.
And no, I don't think he has cancer either. :)

I'm off to the doctors in the morning. These past few days have been ok, no fevers or headaches. Although now it feels like my liver is exploding every once in a while, and there was that odd anus cramping the other night. I'm afraid by tomorrow I will be completely better, seemingly.

it's possible, I already have two "opinions" from two doctors. their opinions are "uh, go away" and "I don't know, maybe IBS or something, go away"
I've not met a doctor who seems any better than these ones though. Their all pretty strung out and (thus) dismissive

the thing is, I'm at a school that has one resident "doctor" who I wouldn't even bother with. The school is also in the middle of nowhere in the northern section of Maine (barely any population up here besides the school). The next closest doctor is a 3 hour drive south
