cops shoot unarmed protesters

it would, but what would we do then? would we be any better
off, really? if things began tumbling down from the top in
america, the delicately balanced tower of bullshit
government heirarchy would pretty much all come crashing
down pretty quickly, i think, which would leave most people
on their own until some party took over and went through the
long process of getting the country back together. i'd
rather have things being kept generally in check by a
slightly bad government than having to worry about the fact
that nothing i know is safe because the country is in a
state of chaos after we overthrow that government.

i'm accusing the anti-globalists of stirring shit themselves
too, or being all too ready to retalliate when things
ignite. alot of them are young males ready to be set off for
their ideals. the protesters might have a stronger plea if
they had always been peaceful.

svalx, yes i have watched it now, before i saw only 40
seconds like LuminousAphid said there. i thought it was one
accidental bullet.

Could you explain why you think so? I think it's a fairly
relevant question. Go on, tell us, if there's nobody
watching the protest, how do you judge what's "nasty" (as
you put it) enough to warrant anyone being "sent in"? Who do
you send in if they're not there to begin with? What do you
propose they do once they're "in"?

u r wel gud @ society stuf m8, lol

generally yeah. i wouldn't participate in anything like that
because a. i don't really want to get shot by the military,
and b. it's not really as bad as all that. most people
living in the u.s. have life pretty good compared to people
in some other parts of the world, so while an overthrow
could work, i don't think it would ever get enough support
in the state of things right now.

The fact that the cops are the ones with weapons tells you
all you need to know.

use your imagination! there are helicopters, undercover
police, cctv cameras. what i class as "nasty" is people
breaking the law. once there is police presence then they
should seek to diffuse the situation in hand. in a peaceful
protest a lot of the time police presence fuels tension.
when protests are against the state, police become the face
of the enemy as they are the ones acting on behalf of the
state, and in this case represent oppression.

please try and understand what i mean. if people turn up for
a peaceful protest and see police, then it shows to the
protesters that the police expect law breaking. in a way
it's more of a psychological effect. the police in their big
riot armor are extremely intimidating.

tipped them with metal they were more effective.

The woman got shot in the leg, probably for a laugh. If I
was a policeman, I'd probably have done it. But does she
take the hint? No, shes whines, "Did you shoot me?". flances
around in front of them, POP, suprise, she gets shot again.
If she's so clued up on Totalitarianism and Police States,
you'd think she'd know that, as a rule, the police have a
very shit sense of humour and are more than likely to hit
you than give you the benefit of the doubt.

Stand around in front of policemen with guns, asking to get
shot, you'll get shot. Save the disingenuous outrage.

Did you know in 19th century Britian the state used soldiers
on horses to put down the masses? So the masses used to cut
the reins or sometimes slit the horses throats. Dontcha love

The whole make-believe middle-east nikky-nakky

So put it in proportion for me! How are you going to tell
which protest is "nasty" and which is legitimate without
your magical surveillance system / moral compass? And don't
even get me started on your "nasty" definition itself - who
decides whether a law is just or not? What happens to groups
protesting "unjust" laws? Apartheid anyone? It's all just
black and white to you, ho ho shitty pun ho ho ho

legitimate?

i'd hardly call undercover police keeping an eye on the
protest a "magical surveillance system"

"who decides whether a law is just or not?"

well that's an entirely different argument. as far as the
police are concerned, when a crime / law is broken, that is
when they should come.

"What happens to groups protesting "unjust" laws?"

does that mean they have to break them?

Conflict needs brutality. The thing that angers me about
police brutality is that the hippies (not all but most) all
just make a big deal about it. "SEE LOOK A COP HIT ME SEE
LOOK LOOK"

I`ve ssen a lot of protest riot videos and had numerous
police beating the shit out of people in front of me moments
, and the best results are when the people fight back.

But you goto jail...

Violence is very much needed unless you think the meek
actually will surrender their power by suggestion ...

I don`t mean religous wars now, I mean if someone hits you
hit them fucking back. More fist fights, less rubber bullet
bullshit.

If Bush is going to be thrown out of power, it's going to
take brains. You would need a Watergate situation where well
connected journalists would pin something on him. All this
pathetic hippy bullshit is a distraction, and personally I
think has done more damage than good. Hey everyone! Let's
discredit our cause by behaving like infantile, violent
pricks! The masses are sure to take notice of us then! Look
at Michael Moore, he's so full of shit he's a blessing to
the right wing, they love picking holes in his shitty
arguments. Get your fucking head together, stop smoking
weed, dressing like a tramp and bitching about "pigs". Then
maybe we can get somewhere as a species.

Did you even take the liberty to read this thread, maybe
visit the many links I posted to wikipedia articles on this
protest, and inform yourself that it was a protest against a
hugely unfair free trade agreement?

Do you even know what free trade is? You fucking moron.
