hehe remind me of a time i played draft 7.30 for a friend while he was passing out very drunk/stoned and said he really liked it.
bastard hasnt given it the time of day since :P
and to get back on topic, drukqs seems like rich's most mature work to date, the perfect blend of excellent song writing and experimentation (rdj album was a bit full of the latter, analord the former).

Drukqs was the first Aphex album I bought I think. I can't remember.

That is also my opinion. You can practically feel the time and effort dripping off the record as you pick it up. There is soooo much work in the tracks on it, it's unreal.

drukqs was the first aphex cd i bought. i dunno why, cos id only heard 26 mixes for cash, but listening to the first track i was expecting it to break into beats and whatnot, and nothing happened, and then the vordhosbn came in.
with drukqs being my second aphex/electronic album, and it being as awesome as it is, asif i wouldnt love it.

It's crazy, most songs that change too much come off as really annoying, because you can't get a grip on where the rhythm and flow is going. How RDJ maintained that flow with all his shifts and turns, I do not know.

Yes, it seems like a real labor of love, not the workmanlike lackadaisical card-punching a lot of reviewers thought it was. Maybe I'm wrong. But he DID get upset with Joyrex way back when for suggesting it wasn't awesome.

I've heard this album so much that the filler tracks don't feel filler at all any more. I love them all, its all part of a massive theme/mood/tone. Timeless.
I'll stop ranting now.

Yes, you listen to something like Prefuse 73 Extinguished/Outtakes, which whilst good, the twisting and turning nature of the tracks breaks the continuity and it almost sounds like several different tracks within a track. On drukqs, it goes all over the shop, but somehow strikes the balance between varied enough to stay interesting, yet retaining enough repetition that it's still all on piece.

prefuse 73 is the only artist in this 'scene' if you will that I really dislike. Maybe even hate. That vid of him on the tables was fantastic, mind you.

this is something that is what makes Go Plastic really good as well, its the way the beats go so far off-beat in places and then snap back, so you keep on almost losing the tempo and then finding it again.
Ive never considered any of drukqs as filler, and I think the continuity is almost unequalled in my music collection

That wasn't him beat juggling. It was someone else playing his tracks and someone miscaptioned it as Prefuse. :)
I like a fair bit of the more recent prefuse. Extinguished outtakes is great for beat juggling, get 2 copies and it's almost a battle record. At the same time, the sound is mainstream enough that you can play it at a "normal" party and people won't think anything of it. I don't really rate One Word Extinguisher, but "End of Biterz International" is superb and it was worth buying just for that.

this makes most 'drill' sound silly.
i just got chosen lords and i have to admit I don't like it. I dislike at least 4 tracks on it.
and this is why i never understood people complaining about drukqs having too many tracks. there's tnough music to make up for the ones you don't care for.
drukqs rules. there's just so much work put into it, it's detailed beautiful and amazing. he even cared to do nice artwork for it, so don't go saying he was bored.
my favorite is ziggomatic.

analord and drukqs are too different to compare. That's my opinion. It's not a one or the other for me. Although, I never really dislike any aphex music. So I'm biased.

I never could get totally into Drukqs as an album... I like most of the faster tracks, and some of the piano ones, but as a whole just seems like a lot of filler... ruins the flow of the album for me...
