It would take a mixing board buggerance of truly Syd Barret
proportions to "fuck up" that that is irredeemably fucked up
(and crappy) already.

Actually the only reason I did ask was on the off chance I
got your real name and then I could get the Inland Revenue
to investigate you, just to annoy you.

we had the inland revenue come in for one our music industry
lectures. what a bunch of boring bastards.

the bloke was fat, had a dirty yorkshire accent and had
shaved his beard around the rolls of fat under his chin, and
the woman was just a 40yr old slapper looking for a shag.

it was over sooner.

i dont think it is a good idea to use mp3s as the source
material to master.
i realize taht its going to end up as mp3s eventually, but
the mroe information there is in the file pre-mastering, the
better, especially if the masterer is going to be 'pulling
out' subtletees,ect.
i guess if you cant get him flacs or soemthing just use
real highbitrate emp3s, or better yet- vorbis

I can master for you if you still need the help. I am good
at most of the things like filtering, noise reduction,
mastering levels, shit like that. I am not too hot on the
eq, but I know my way around it. I will work for free
provided that I be allowed to record messages to satan and
hide them in the background.

I too will not provide samples of my work. If you need
references, ask gwerly, as I occasionally do some mastering
for him.

The chap who runs audiobulb records does mastering via email
if I recall correctly. Afterwards, he will send you 30
second extracts of the mastered clips and you only need to
pay (and then he'll send the full ones) if you like it. Best
to send him a .wav file though, if you want a significant
improvement. Good luck.

great thread. Im very interested in mastering myself but I
wouldnt dare to do it for someone else, it's just too easy
to fuck the sound up =/ but uhm, Im looking forward to hear
the finished album now and when it's out there/here perhaps
we could get an example of an umastered piece aswell ? I
mean after reading this thread it would be very interesting
to hear the improvements by anyone who turned out mastering
it.
