I'd imagine it's a nice insight into how ae were working at
that point in time, and might spark some interesting ideas,
but that's about it. I think it goes without saying that
using it "pure" would be the height of rudeness, never mind
being completely fucking anti-creative. I'd have a mess
myself if i could actually be bothered figuring out max/msp.

OK- Here is the Mac version of the Max/MSP patch. From
what I understand, it is *the* version that was used to
write Liccflii on EP7. It begins with the obligatory mac
error sound (I fucked up WireTap) and then you'll hear hard
changes in the track. That's me hitting the space bar.
Each time I do, it writes a new version of the track. Give
a listen, you'll hear the changes:

Yes, the pure data conversion was far from perfect, but it
works. I'm gonna start converting it to reaktor and improve
it alot as we've talked about.

You should talk to ThomasRhombus aka Awepittance aka
Fluourescent Grey of RecordLabelRecords, the guy who made
that Untilted fake. He's doing a similar project in Reaktor
as well... though he's found out the CPU toll is greater in
there than in Max or PD

Hey gl0tch, were you able to re-write this patch for a more
recent version of Max/MSP? I remember running across the
link for this patch, but i don't have MaxPlay 3.6 to check
the layout.

Sorry for such a vague question, but how long and how much
planning would it take to make that track in MAX/MSP? I like
this version, btw.

CS2x -

I am pretty certain this was THE patch used to write
Liccflii on EP7. Listen to the sound samples I provided,
then listen to the track. Its so similar its beyond being
coincidental.

To answer your question though, this patch has over 30
subpatchs and abstractions. Though some adopt a modular
approach in borrowing core elements for different parts of
the main patch (for instance, the Simple FM~ abstraction), I
would think it would take a while for even a seasoned Max
programmer to wrap there head around this.

Assumming they started from a clean slate, didnt borrow from
previous experiments, etc... I would think something like
this would take months from start to finish (beginning the
patch, tweaking, finalizing, sequencing the results, making
it an actual "song," mastering it, etc.)
