hmm..I have all kinds of problems with this concept..then it
will be REFLEX and Whitehead and "yet to be announced's"
ideas of the best of the mb artists..wont it..would it be a
true representation?

offline REFLEX from Edmonton, Alberta (Canada) on 2002-02-22 00:11 [#00096534]

flea::. It would be a true representation, I understand
there are styles and sounds out there i may not like, but we
will analyze and take a good look at how the songs fit
together on the CD, take the best ones OVER ALL and make it
happen.

i'm not sure

maybe voting should be enabled

he has a point... our taste may not represent the taste of
the people here... and it should be a group project...

I think we should make it possible for people to vote on
tracks they like

Not very much music can fit on one CD, so a lot of us music
makers (the suckier ones) will be left off. :-(

we cannot have people vote on THE Songs.. because then
people will know whats on the CD. it needs to be done
properly. this is how it worked last time and there was no
problem. we have to get over the fact that everyone would
want to be on it.

offline whitehead from Nicaragua on 2002-02-22 00:15 [#00096551]

that's a risk you have to take

about 15 tracks can be put on i think... and if we make this
work, maybe more cd's will follow, who knows

the songs can be voted in the weekly pool... then the cd
could be like the big surprise for the party.nu...imagine
aphex djing your own tracks

yea if there is a lot of music you can do several cds..wiht
the different styles

offline whitehead from Nicaragua on 2002-02-22 00:18 [#00096557]

not bloody likely but a nice thought :)

Besides, voting is better, because i could vote my own
tracks on in a second if i wanted to :)

offline flea from depths of your mind (New Zealand) on 2002-02-22 00:18 [#00096559]

voting could work..then it would be a more democratic
process..
maybe i am a bit defensive..because my stuff keeps being
labeled too harsh and unlistenable (not that I mind that :))
but it makes for a less likely selection for a compilation
than most..I know I wont have a chance even when voting is
involved (HAHAHA but I am just thinking that after managing
the fractured scapes the sounds of the artists here are so
varied and yet they all make perfect sense and you can
detect an aura of aphex's influence lingering all over
them..and for any of them not to be included on a disc would
be pretty unfair

And i mean if we would use a 3-piece jury of me, reflex, and
some other hee-haw

record companies are a bunch of screwballs that regulate
what everyone hears,
we should just try to raise funds and produce it
independently

Or at least let the people here decide what's gonna be on it

or just fuckin' exchange music and art amongst each other
and all be better people for it

No. I think we should do this independant ofcourse, but
money is involved. I have enough money to do some stuff
here, but first Id need to smooth out details. Dont need to
talk about it too much here, cannot disclose all the
goodies.

I'm still curious on how you want to arrange all this...

but you seem to be well prepared and know what your doing...
Keep us updated on the possibilities

Well. First off Im going to wait for whoever to email me
about being serious and workin on this. I doubt they will
have to lend money, but they NEED to be dedicated and
available to do this. Otherwise need not apply.

what if everyone submitted 15 tracks they like *(not
including their own tracks)* and the most frequent
selections maybe get in?

i love fleas work and so does a lot of others, so you'd get
in man :D

cheers teapot and I love your Xanpha stuff but our styles
are like miles apart and that was the point I was trying to
make to REFLEX and Whitehead...I love the sheer diversity of
the sounds of the artists on the board..never a dull moment
putting together the station:)

REFLEX i dont really agree with you taking this project
OUTSIDE of the messageboard, after all this messageboard and
the people within it is what its all about right?

that's a brilliant idea!
i used to haunt rec.music.industrial and they released two
2cd compilations..called mind/body...i.e the intellectual cd
(mind) and the butal cd (body) on each..but there were still
a lot of unhappy and angry musicians on the group...many
flame and blame wars...this is such a small tight knit group
we have here would hate to see something like that happen to
it...

more than anything else i worry about REFLEX..there's
already too many...antiREFLEX threads popping up on this
board..dont want to see any more of it frankly..

2 Cd's may be a possibilitiy. We cannot involve Phobiazero
unless he REALLY wants to. Frankly Im not going to bug him
with stuff, in his already busy life. Thats just not fair or
possible.

Money is an issue, this IS for fun, but cant be something
not taken serious for people involved.

There will be 3 people reviewing the project, MAYBE one
more, no exceptions.

Suggestions will be open VIA email to me.
{reflexation@yahoo.ca} about how to screen the songs.... or
what have you.

Any ideas or suggestions send comments to my email at:
