I was thinking, since there seems to be a lot of talent on
this MB, why don't do the same thing here as on JoyRex? Why
not create a cd with songs from the people that regularly
come here?

I've heard some tracks of you, and some are really good! If
this is not possible, maybe set up an ftp, or make a
webpage, and publish songs there? What do you think?

Oh.. shit. We tried to organize this a long time ago. I had
all these peoples songs, cover art, I talked to some record
companies, some pressing companies and everything. It all
fell apart. Trust me, if you want to do this, im already
half way there... still so youd need to involve me. Its
kinda hard to do....

huh?

just send me a bunch of mp3s, I'll pick the 15 best and I'll
put them on a cd, I'll put the cover art on and give it an
insert and send it out to all you people for $2 each. No
big deal.

I don't have any contacts... But i think it's well worth a
try...

You do music yourself? And which record companies did you
contact?

I don't know any record companies who would want to spend
their money pressing the record of a bunch of aphex twin
fans mp3.com pages.

I tried I really did.... its harder than you think, if
anything Id have to pay for limited pressings of the CD..
with art and everything..... see its not so simple. but im
willing to go for it again.

offline whitehead from Nicaragua on 2002-02-21 23:40 [#00096410]

me neither... but isn't that a hell of a challenge then?

offline whitehead from Nicaragua on 2002-02-21 23:42 [#00096414]

i'd like to do it too

but where find the musicians?

I've done music in my day, but i suck at it :)

hmm ahem
http://www.mp3.com/stations/fracturedscapes...
I am not just shamelessly plugging my own music here..go
there and have a look for your self

Simple. I still have emails of lots of great musicians and
all that stuff... and even some great cover art. Phobiazero
and I came up with an idea for the name too.... but I dunno
anymore, it still good.. but uh......???

Reflex there's no real reason to have anything
pressed. All the songs are going to be collected in
mp3 format, pressing them professionally will not increase
the quality...use a damn CD burner and adobe photoshop.

I think its a good idea, just no need to be so proffesional,
lets be realistic, that way we can actually get something
made.

I'd want a track on this compliation, but none of the ones I
have NOW... they all tend to suck quite a bit!

Xanatos: I guess.... but this way would be cooler you must
admit. An official pressing.. catalogue number and
everything?

We cannot count you in after the fact you need to try and be
a part of it first off. Not everyone can make it onto the CD
as it is!

I have a track that's "quite good",but it needs
finishing.Sounds like a good idea.for the cover art,maybe we
could have a collage of contributers photos/weird shit. For
the name, maybe something to do with this site. What about
".NU"?(keepin' it simple).I'd be willing to contribute
something in the way of cdr's or £/$.Let's have some ideas.

here in lies the biggest problem with a project like
that..who decidess what goes on the CD? who's the judge and
jury? who imposes their tastes on the collective..Phobiazero
I can accept, he earn the right by offering this fantastic
site and an almost encyclopaediac knowledge of this style of
music with excellent taste to boot but who else?

whitehead: email me, this will start over the weekend if you
really want. I can set one up, I already have a good FTP
server to my name. With enough space and decent bandwidth.
This is how it happened before.

I'd be willing to contribute too

maybe by building a website, but hosting's out of the
question... I have a lousy upstream

um... what more could we need by way of ideas?
some sort of sponsor? an interesting logo?
personally i'm of the opinion that the thing we require is
inertia

flea::. me and 2 other people decide what goes on and what
doesnt. if that other person is Phobiazero fine, but Iam
sure he is too busy to have this be a part of his site. So
its up to me and whoever else wants to do this for REAL.

hm...
okay i admit that i'm not that bright, so i don't really
have any ideas (or at least no ideas that would make sense
to some one not on hard drugs) but i still wanna contribute,
can anyone suggest other ways of contribution prefferably
contribution that doesn't cost money, or require any sort of
common or garden variety intelligence???
