I deleted all my mp3s. They were just sitting there not
doing anything and i rarely had the time to sit in front of
my computer listening to music.

Now i have more space for when i work on my own stuff

"we dont have many record stores around here and i
dont live in a big city"

are you not in detroit?? there's close to a million people
there. not to mention it's arguably the birthplace of techno
and a couple other genres of music as well. no record stores
in detroit. indeed

i mean no disrespect though.

The IDM stars always come into the file sharing threads.

I'm gonna set a booby-trap.

"i was merely stating that i have way too much music and
ill never get around to listening to it all because of how
much time is required for me to appreciate an album, that i
might as well just start deleting it

better? anyone agree?"

I might be terribly weird or something, but I think this
falls squarely into the Stating The Bleeding Obvious
category.

im about 10miles outside of detroit, i just put that on my
"from" because no one would know any other city in michigan
(since most of you are from out-of-country

there's about 2 or 3 within 5+ miles from me (ferndale and
royal oak) but most don't carry the abundance of electronic
music in which i prefer

very small "warp records" and idm etc.

im not HUGE on detroit techno; i like a lot but i don't know
as much as i do idm, it's just what i prefer

fair enough. I'm quite jealous that you're so close to
detroit in all honesty. i love detroit style techno and
electro as long as there aren't any vocals/vocal samples...

anyway on topic I have *really* slowed my intake of music
(and media in general) and its been beneficial to me as a
human being. easier said than done though, good luck

Yeah, I joined the game a little late though (about 5-6
years ago) so I have a *lot* of catching up to do on some
classic older releases.

I got into aphex twin at first so i kinda "grew up" in my
own sense (for idm) on ICBYD and come to daddy

autechre wise? the first real "abused listens" came from
confield, probably because i was getting "in the scene" at
the time it came out

thus, mecha-thousands listens later, it was scratching me
right where i itched! i loved it; same with draft.

i think that's why i can't completely relate with the old ae
beacuse i wasn't into the music (i was really young then,
too) when it was released.

it's harder trying to bind feelings/emotions to older stuff
(not impossible, just a wee bit harder for me)

i give most albums proper time to digest (boc, ae, drukqs
especially) ... i think out of the past 4years since drukqs
has been out, there's only been about 60days in which i
_haven't_ listened to a track from there.

Hi, my names Elusive, I got interested in electronica long
after the party was over, downloaded a fucking tonne of it
regardless of quality, and now I'm getting bored, FEEL SORRY
FOR ME.

How'd you manage to get your entire collection stolen?

I've found the perfect rythym (sp? lol) in my
piracy/listening pattern, it's made me very happy and
healthy. I never let anything out of my incoming folder
without listening to it hard, multiple times. I'm extremely
disciplined now. But I see where you're coming from, it's
overwhelming sometimes.
