I love warpmart, but this prices are awesome, I am liking
sublight a lot

This shits finally up on soulseek. If it showed up in a
record store I would buy it there. Unfortunately, I am not
about to buy anything so small online, so its through
soulseek untill I see it in a store.

Weatherdstoner: you are wrong. Richard devine has about
100037 X more tallent.

Yeah. They used to release some great new music. Jega, Bitt
Meddler, Leafcutter John, Hellfish & Producer, etc etc etc,
but they lost it somewhere. I think it was with Bulbous
Paths combined with vsnares popularity, because he realized
that by selling crappy breakcore music, they can pay the
bills and release a lot more stuff at that.

Richard Devine is great, but the sounds he designs for all
the albums are very similar to my ears. Maybe it's just "his

I really loved Bilious Paths, but agree with everything else
you said. The breakcore thing seems to be selling (but who's
buying it? chavs?)

offline cutups from Pittsburgh (United States) on 2005-05-19 11:57 [#01605092]

I wouldn't consider MU a purely breakcore label by any
stretch, although they have put out some things that have
elements of breakcore (Hellfish, Snares, Shitmat, and more
tangentially Chevron, Exile, 8FM...). But Mike puts out
whatever he digs. Alot of the latest releases are more on
the grime tip really, but then you have something like ed
lawes too.

RE: Breakcore...its not THAT popular. Definitely not
popular enough to put out in order to make money

I don't know.

Fuck I hate breakcore. I just think the label has gotten
ahead of itself. They are releasing about 20 or 30 albums a
year!. They have a more expansive discog than warp, and they
have only been around a third of the length of time.

Heh... julian fane used to post in here.

Although not really my thing. The edit album was good (he
used to post in here too, if I am not mistaken).

Incidentally, Bitt Meddler, Julian Fane, and myself have
worked at the same Movie theatre, and have lived in the same
part of vancouver.

I take credit for being one of the main people who leaned
matt into autechre (he hated them at first), which inspired
him towards the sound he used on that album. He also showed
me a couple things when I first started making music.

Havn't heard it, but if it's REALLY good, I'd attribute it
mostly to otto's contribution. Otto is... the best.. maybe.

Points: 9958 Status: Lurker | Followup to w M w: #01605706

Mmmm... I don't know. Otto only contributed to one song, and
its probly one of the weaker ones. Otto is a brilliant sound
designer, but his arrangements are kind of weak.

offline w M w from London (United Kingdom) on 2005-05-20 02:12 [#01605712]

still think the best devine track is the first track in one
of the compilations, forget which one. It's like 10 minutes
longish.

I definately disagree but R FOWE opinionaf s. Otto plays
around in a lot of tracks in a humorous but not perfect way,
but in certain tracks he holds nothing back and could
slaughter anyone else on schematic. by the way, breeding
dogs artificially selects ones with certain characteristics,
ie. random ones from shuffled populations wouldn't result in
mutation in a desired or specific direction.

Bit medler has some great tracks. They're hard to find
anywhere but my favorite is the metroid remix, and second
favorite is the remix on crunch 2 (last track I think). What
music alias is julian fane?

offline Taxidermist from Black Grass on 2005-05-20 02:40 [#01605746]
Points: 9958 Status: Lurker

He was here under the name Taoist Blockade. His name is
Julian Fane.

Futhermore, I forget the arguement that we had about dogs
and breeding, so I'm not going to think of an
addition/argument to that statement. I have a lot of ideas
about evolution/controlled mutation, and I don't want to set
them all down in here right now. To much typing. Not enuf
care :P

That's good because my brain is moldy and I wouldn't know
what either of us were talking about. bit meddler and
lexaunculpt seem to always stay below the fame threshold...
uh perhaps because they never release cds. (lex had one but
it didn't have the good tracks if I remember).

this is a great album, there is not a track on it that i
dont like, i like it much better than anything else by him,
fav tracks have to be sigstop, arc-acid, rsl-com, orr
unfolding, repol, vc-demension, timach and the funkstorng
remix, but all of the tracks are great - classic album

I like the album but I get the feeling it was a bit rushed.
there are allot of those 1 min. ambient thingies. which can
be cool and all but I feel those where put in to fill the
album. there aren't enough "real" tracks imo. acect:dsect
had a wide variety of things and I believe it is still his
best. I'm wondering when his dvd will come out.

although it is very similar - i guess i felt it more, had
more feeling than some of his other stuff.

I like the ambient thingies. The rest of the album is really
uninspiring. Asect:Dsect has a lot more variation, better
sounds/textures, melodies, better beats, just overall - a:d
sounds warmer and not as cold and mechanical as this one.

And yeah, that funkstorung remix is totally yawnable.
