The meaning of the word is something like 'gods gift' and if this is right, then my name means the same as another slavic name Bogdan (Bog = god, dan = given, thus it's god-given, or gods gift). My name is rather rare now, I don't know any Matveys here except: old russian tv host, a cat called the same, and that's all.. Bogdan is not that rare.
