I'm 22 and I don't know what I want to do. After 2 years of
college, I took the last 2 years off to figure it out and
I've just gotten myself into a deeper hole and I'm even more
confused. Ideally, I want to be an astronaut, the thought of
doing anything else seems really boring and unimportant.

Robert- I'm looking for one, but I'm picky and I can't find
one I'd like. My last one was phone tech support and it made
me want to die every morning. But it was pretty good.

Qrtir- because if I die without seeing earth from up there,
I'm not going to be happy at all, no matter how many
beautiful women I bed.

And what made you come to that conclusion? Are/were you...
working with plants?

I wish I could come to that sort of conclusion.

Well its just a guess. I find them very interesting and
theres so many varieties I cant see it getting boring.
However, I dont know how to go about it (obviously I'd start
with college classes), but I dont know exactly what field to
go into. I really dont want to be stuck in a lab all day
working with other scientists or something.

I guess I should try though. I thought I wanted to be a
computer programmer, until I tried it and started taking
college courses... it was the most boring shit ever. I cant
see myself sitting in an office all day doing that crap for
some company that doesn't give a fuck all about anything but
profits.

I wouldn't mind a slightly crappy job if I could
telecommute. Wake up at noon, work in my pajamas on the
Johnson report periodically taking breaks to hit the bong...
that would be nice.

I hear ya. I have some interests but I don't know how to get
my foot in the doorway that leads to the hallway that leads
to that kind of career (I guess calling up a specialist from
a school and asking them what we should do and what we could
take would be a good first step for us). I also hear you on
your second paragraph. There's much comfort there, and it
would be easy to get into a program/get a job like that, but
I... don't want to. I want to be an astronaut.

Krter- let's see... 5... NO wait, 4, your mom doesn't count
as ''beautiful'', ohhhhhhcanigetawitness

that's a cool job, actually. i would be too worried about
fucking up the paint to try something like that. do you
have any pics of bikes you've painted?

shouldn't you be taking science courses and physically
training? why aren't you doing that RIGHT NOW?

Too late, I've floated and skipped and my way through so
many years of school that I'd never be able to get a sniff
of that stuff. Plus, I'm ultralazy, I have big debts, I
crack under pressure when I'm in space (probably), and have
some little health quirks that might scratch me from
contention anyway.

Has anyone here considered being a cop, or know anyone that
is? I actually HAVE considered that, it's pretty easy to get
a start in it, I have connections, and it's one of the few
jobs where I feel like I'd be doing something useful and
challenging.
