Some of us just enjoy the music and don't have to
intellectualize it. It sounds good to us therefore we like
it. It's as simple as that.

I do not make music, I do not know anything about samplers,
but I do listen to classical music, and I can tell he didn't
do anything special, and just put in gay drill beats (which
I hate like 90% of the time)

I like music, I don't sit their "intellectualising" it, but
if I just hear a sad man banging away trying to make
something deliberatly awkward and shit because he thinks
that's what difficult and interesting artists do, with all
the charm and ability of a turd, please don't expect me to
laud upon him tributes or cash for his records.

you either like his stuff or you don't - as simple as that.

i personally can't get why there's so much irony and even
bitterness towards Snares.

some of you guys REALLY sound as if you're just a bit too
jealous of Aaron making a living doing what he enjoys! :P

true as this may be, it's still a messageboard devoted to

dob_belch dude.

he may actually have "matured" this time, as opposed to all
those other times.
listen to the damn album, it's fucking great.
one of the highlights "Senki Dala" is so emotional and
filled with atmosphere it just doesnt get any better.

calling him all those things you just did when he has
created this album is nothing but ignorant.

i like music, i like snares music because it has its
moments, i dont think its all that or anything, but at the
right moment in the right setting, its good. when i am
trying to wake up in the morning, or when i want to listen
loud - i really enjoy this stuff. now, that being said
there are some tracks, and entire releases that have a shelf
life in my cd player of about a week. but thats why i like
it, because he releases a lot, and because sometimes he
farts about and doesnt take himself seriously - when he take
himself seriously, a la belly of the snake, huge chrome and
this new one, i view him as any other electronic artist - i
take it for what it is.

aahaaaaa, no man i don't think he's astrid... :p look at his
posts or the topics he create.

anyway i'm not a fanbwoi of snares' music, but there are
many songs i really like, he's got skills, enough variety,
he releases too much to have a real quality control but as
long as people like his stuff there's no need to be all hate
on him...

i saw him live, a wonderfull night that ended with
hellfish/producer (seriously the µ roster isn't THAT full
of shit...), and, man, if you like to dance you must see him
once live, it's just nuts!
if it's not too loud and full of those high-frequency sounds
he loves it's a magic moment full of energy and
incomprehension, just let loose of yourself and enjoy!

dog_belch is officially the most bitter man on xltronic.

All I can say is:

Just because your teenage years are ancient history, don't
act as if feelings of angst are by any means irrelevent or
unnecessary. Okay, so punk kids out there are pretty fucking
annoying acting hardcore, but I can safely say as someone
who has enjoyed Snares' stuff for about two years, I AM NOT
ONE OF THEM.

Admittedly, during my times of high praise for Snares, I was
going through some emotionally testing times. So is there
any harm then, really, in sticking on some loud, harsh music
to cleanse the mind? Fuck no. And I wasn't wearing any
hoodies at the time. I don't regret what I did at all. What
is the difference between this phase and the mid-life crisis
awaiting you us all? I find it funny that
you mention that there is no 'artistic merit' when surely
art is expressing one's self, and what is expressed here is
aggression. Unfocused or not. Who gives a shit?

Snares is not a genius. His last few releases have been
dire. But I can still enjoy his past stuff, it's good, and I
never take it as seriously as you seem to be doing. It's
light entertainment.

"i don't care what some spoilt 30 year old going on 15
fucking troll playing a Canadian's idea of what drum and
bass is going to play"

Then ignore him.

this album is fucking terrible. utter garbage , and im a
snares fan.

the melodies are shite and soulless. the melodies and beats
on HCCBU were 1000 times better. and actually had soul and
emotion. what a great album that was , this one is a pure
dissapointment. fuck those saying his last albums were dire.
yeah this one is dire , but hccbu is snares swan song.

I mean it's nice and all that he discovered Shostakovich.
Everyone needs some exposure to the classics. All over the

Hitchcock movie?"

how bland would this place be if we all had the same
opinions on music - i say if we disagree this is a good
thing. id rather know that im talking to someone who thinks
and formulates their own opinions, instead of some mindless
dildo that thinks it cool to like some artist because he
writes mindless dildo music.

I cant understand how people dont see that since 1999 he has
made some incredible albums:

songs about my cats
doll doll doll
a giant alien force
winter in the belly of a snake

just for these he should deserve a lot more respect I think

I'm sure i've said something along these lines before, but i
honestly don't feel much either way for snares. I went
through a phase of listening to find candace a fair bit, but
he kind of leaves me cold.

I've never understood the whole "emotional element" that
some people seem to find in his stuff, personally i can't
hear anything deeper than a load of chopped up breaks over a
few rehashed synth lines and a shitload of effects. Which is
alright if you like that sort of thing, but it doesn't
really do much for me. There's a few tracks i'll listen to
and enjoy (especially "aaron"), but yeah. I dunno. I've got
no motivation to seek out this new one anyway.

He's very good live if you're borderline alcohol-poisoned
though.
