the most accessible autechre is tri repetae. the best
autechre is confield. the phattest autechre is draft 7.30 "

ok subjectivity issues aside, what the fuck are you
thinking? You want to start someone off on autechre... those
are the 3 non instantly gratifying autechre albums. I would
personally recommend (In order)
chiastic slide
lp5
envane
cichlisuite

It's a never ending argument.

1 chiastic slide
2 amber, tri rep+garbage+anvil vapre
3 lp5
4 ep7
5 cichli, envane
6 confield, incunabula

Draft 7.30, I don't know. That album is so weird it could
go anywhere in the order, depending on the person.

in my little world, autechre peaked around 1996ish. i'd
recommend looking for:

LP5
envane EP/2x12"
cichlisuite EP/2x12"
peel session #1 (circa 1995) EP/12"
peel session #2 (circa 2000?) EP/12" (best of the newschool
AE in my book)

Buy Tri Repetae++, spend about 6 months fully getting into
it and then move on. Hyuc.

I would suggest d/l "Clipper" or even "444" first as I feel
those are their most accesible songs. As for my
suggestion...well I'm biased to the AI years...so my
suggestion would be to listen to Incunabula. I say start
early and work your way up. Who knows...you might only like
their first 3 albums like me...and start to find their new
material garbage or you might fill the consensus and really
appreciate their new sound. Either way...it's usually a
good idea to start at the beginning and work your way up.
That way you won't miss any gems for sure.

Aphex Twin, or whoever.
