why waste DVD's when you could use the built in Gigabit
Ethernet on the PowerBook?

or AirPort Extreme?

i transferred nearly a whole gig of data over from my iBook
to my PowerBook in less than 2 mins

Update

i'm now upstairs in my room, because everyone came back home
about 30 mins ago :(

doesn't your PC have a Network card?

If it does then it at least has to be a 10/100 BaseT
Ethernet card. A gigabit one is 10/100/1000 BaseT

well i transfered my stuff from my iBook to my PowerBook at
incredible speeds.

And my iBook is only a 10/100 BaseT card.

If you can get to an Apple supplier, I'm sure that there'd
be demo machines there for you to have a look at :)

I have 5 laptops. Two HP ones, one they gave me for free.
An old IBM Thinkpad and two Sony Vaio's which are showing
their age and use a little bit (one of them is in peices)

heheh, a common misconception.

if you plug a USB mouse with three buttons and scroll wheel,
you get exactly the same functionality as a PC.

That means you get a right click ;)

And even if you don't have a mouse with more than one button
(ie you're using the trackpad) you can ctrl+click to get a
contextual menu

ah the thinkpads!! i like thinkpads :)

do you ever have LAN parties with games and stuff? i'd
really like to go to one of those and have a massive Q3A

I hate computers. Oddly I wouldn't say I am all that much
of a geeky person. I never play computer games, my network
at home was done purely for media distribution and all I use
any of my computers for these days is making music and
coming here.

The reason I got a free laptop is because one I bought broke
three times in the first year so they sent the replacement
but never asked for the original back, so I just fixed it
myself.

Yes, everything. I was going to aquire touch screen
displays for the rooms, but I have sold up and I am moving
so I won't bother now for the time being. All I will take
with me are two laptops and my server, everything else I am
giving away to friends.

kinda like that networked house in the states, where
everything is hooked into everything.

Well, you're gonna acquire a lot of new mates when word gets
around that you're giving your equipment away!

what is it that you're eventually hoping to achieve with

Nothing, I just like pissing about. I don't make music any
more so a studio would be useless. I am just going to spend
