...in the living room. It's a british summer afternoon.
I've got the ceiling fan on full blast, a bag of 10 KitKat
Chunky bars, a half eaten packet of Starburst, a packet of
Maynards Wine Gums, and my PowerBook on my lap. No-one is in
the house.

I am content (for the time being)

:)

I am sitting outside in the backgarden in the sunshine with
a glass of ice cold water and a spliff.

could you please supply a picture taken with that
ludicrously good camera that you got hold of not too long
ago?

;)

I am sitting in my room fannying around with midi. I am
gradually getting to grips with it.

I am now going outside for a bit to enjoy the last of the
sun and to put some paperwork in order.

No, because that would mean I have to stand up and walk
upstairs and open the cupboard and get the camera out and
put batteries in and take the photo and transfer the card to
my laptop and copy the image off and resize it and then post
it. Far too much hassle :P

i've just got through my pack of Starburts, and am about to
start on my third KitKat Chunky bar ;)

How's it going with the MIDI? I hope you're winning :)

You've still got paperwork to get through? Oh by the way,
how'd the movie thesis thingy that you were doing go? you
know, the one where i suggested macinimation (or however you
spell it)?

ahh i see

:)

well, i don't blame you mate. But i would have thought you'd
have jacked a WiFi 802.11g card in your camera with power
over the air, so that you could use it 100 miles away from
home?

that'd be cool

Well I could do that but really the camera has to be in the
same physical place in order for me to take a photograph of
that location :)

Getting electribes to work with midi-ox, it's a tricky
beast... Huzzah, just finally sorted it.

OScillik: The graphics paper went quite well, not had grades
yet, but I reckon I got a 2:1 on it.

Paperwork is to do with job interview/tax/insurance etc.
rather than uni work. That's all done now, thank goodness-
just waiting for my overall degree classification. I'll get
it in the post in by the end of the month hopefully,
provided those spastics at:
a) My university
and
b) Royal Mail
Don't lose it/send me the wrong one etc. :)

i hope you're enjoying your day anyways.

i've had a long day at work, and i'm just glad to be back
home. i really do wish i could be a lazy bastard and just
stay at home, but i can't: i've got nearly £7000 worth of
loans to pay off, not to mention a mobile bill and broadband
bill!

money is a bad invention :( we should all live like they do

Ceri CJ

ah that's good then :) I don't understand what a 2:1 means,
but you seem chuffed about it, so it must be good :)

I wouldn't trust Royal Mail as far as I could shoot them -
they've lost a huge £80 present that I bought for my
girlfriend's birthday :( I'm not impressed because

1) I've thrown £80 down the fucking shitter

2) My girlfriend is severely disappointed.

I hope that your stuff gets to you safely

oscillik is the wrong person to ask as he admits to having
an affinity for non-Microsoft systems.

If you want an objective opinion the answer would be,

"Yes, it's very good even if a little expensive in the UK."

That is a direct quote from me, the person people trust for
fair and balanced opinion.

yer that would be nice send away. and thanks ecnadniarb im
just worried about one or two things. like lower cpu power
compared to pc laptops and the whole soundcard thing plus
*whispers* downloading software for mac (ie via slsk ;) is
way harder

you can't compare CPU clock cycles with x86 CPU's and PPC
CPU's - RISC architecture is totally different to x86, and
is more efficient with handling instruction code.

I'm sending what i've done so far to the email address in
your profile :)

The clock speed on the CPU's is not an issue as the whole
architecture of the CPU is different. They use completely
different instruction sets. Apple are beginning to struggle
though with processor development and will probably make the
move across to Intel or AMD chips or even another platform
in the future, but for the lifespan of the laptop it again
isn't really an issue.

There are still sources for copied software for the Mac, and
Mac users tend to look after each other (if you know what I
mean) when it comes to that stuff as well.

Personally though I primarily use Intel based laptops
running either Windows or Linux.

i have the following audio and music creation apps on my
machine:

Reason 2.5
ReCycle 2.1
Cubase SX 1.06
Ableton Live 3.0.2
Peak 4.11
Sound Studio 2.1.1

to be honest, I haven't installed many VSTi's, I've only got
Arturia's Minimoog V and Albino installed.

I've tried messing about with a Cubase+Reason rewire
session, running Minimoog V and Albino and using TrackS all
at the same time, and i've not noticed much slow down :)

It definately handles what I throw at it in Reason (as i do
most of my compositions/covers in Reason)

stuttered in fl studio i use reason live 3 cubase and fl oh

sets so i want to be sure it can handle the apps with no
freezing or stalling or sound errors

yes, Minimoog V performs really well. i have a cracked copy
(cracked ones are usually notorious for being buggy) but it
works perfectly :)

you could still use Sound Forge in Virtual PC on a Mac i'd
assume - I have used Cool Edit 2000 under Virtual PC and
although it's a little slower than a real pc, it's
definitely usable. but since i got hold of Peak, i don't
ever touch it anymore!
