It's more like :

Me "click ok"

cmr: "click ok?"

me: "yes, click ok"

cmr: "it's gone now"

me: "Is the pc restarting?"

cmr: "no, I clicked on cancle. That's what you wanted me to
do right?"

Go for commodities. You can make an absolute killing by all
accounts...

By commodities, you mean stocks and shares? If so that's not
really me. I want to go and meet people in the flesh.

It's similar, but it's actually buying quantites of things
like corn, oil, etc. you would probably be dealing with
people over the phone as opposed to "in the pit" like
stocks/options traders. One of the advantages is that as you
are buying on behalf of clients (with their money) and you
just get a percentage of the sales, it's pretty secure
compared to stock trading. I hear there's less auditing too,
so a bit less stressful in that respect...

sounds as if you would be fucking some poor 3rd world
producer int he ass somehow. I think I would prefer to
source and trade 'commodities' with small scale producers.

christ i'm so business-illiterate .... its scarey

Commodities, stocks, shares, mortgages, APS, tax ... all
that shit totally freaks me out. wheni get my wages i know
one thing..... the figure at the end is what goes into my
bank which is where money is.....

when i'm programming i haven't a clue what the hell the code
is doing in real life. All i see is data spinning around and
stock gets shifted from A to B.

I'm such a lazy dreamer.

I should be just painting or something...

life=work for me at the moment. but not in a sense i live to
work but in a sense that working takes all of my
time...there's basically nothing else i do these days (well
for the past couple of years), but post here and
work...ocassionally i eat and sleep...it's depressing but im
in such a weird situation i can't quit this job...yet. the
worst is that i get nothing out of it...

deal.

Well, not directly. You'd be buying from one company and
selling to another- not the "little man" like small
farms/workers.

Keys: Some companies operate internet use monitoring based
on volume of data sent (as opposed to say, number of pages
loaded). Two reasons:
1) Bandwidth has a measureable cost
2) High bandwidth stuff tends to be the things you shouldn't
be doing in work- DLing warez, porn, videos, MP3s, etc. and
which look very bad for the company iamge if you get
caught.

The actual amount of time a user spends online is quite hard
to monitor. For example, say you have a word document (work)
open on one half of the screen and a MB open on the other
half. It's hard to calculate what percentage of time you're
spending reading each one.

As a result, the people who make big DLs are the ones who
get caught. I was comparatively low down the list of staff
in terms of internet used, purely because I didn't DL any
big files (maybe an average of 1 mp3 per week), just largely
text based sites like this. One of my mates was always being
warned about his internet useage, even though he only spent
about 10-20 mins of company time online, as he would DL at
least one movie/game trailers or game demos per day.

Yes, this is me exactly.

But I've quit my job I've had for 4 years at the software
company and am about to start this dreadful cycle at a new
place of employment in 2 weeks.

BUT, in the time I've had off over the last few days I've
accomplished more than I have in the past 12 months (no
shit).

You should see my closet. Fuggin immaculate~

Also im almost done veiwing, evaluating, labeling, and
storing all my blank vhs tapes... huge undertaking!

so the moral of the story is, if you want to be productive,
quit your job. (also, get up at 6 or 7 instead of sleeping
in, this makes abig difference)

It's an amazing feeling having this done.

Also I'm finding many rare items, and things I thought I had
lost or recorded over...

Phase 2 will be archiving all worthy material to dvd.

PS: Im sure everyone is on your ass about this, but its just
not the same without the dog or the monkey :(

I remember the days when I had my own office... It even had
a blind I could pull down over the door. Those were the
days... whilst everyone hates cubicles (and worse still,
open plan offices) you can see why business has adopted
them, it's a massive boost to productivity.

Yeah, I spent most of my free time at work surfing video
game message boards. Not THIS one... you guys are too
unpredictable. I had to stay on a board where swearing is
outlawed.

Now I don't have a job and, lo and behold, I'm a happier
person.
