This talk of negotiating with the terrorists makes no sense to me,..It's pretty clear that the demand is for Israel to be rid of all Jews. Not live together in peace, or divide plots up. Entirely Muslim. That's what they want. Sure oil has much to do with conflict. Western nations bullying a bit to get what they want. Sure, but the real steam for the anger comes from support for Israel and the Jewish people. Until they are gone there will be conflict. No matter how many concessions are made.

a lot of people gravely under-estimate the popularity and depth of anti-semitism and anti-israel sentiments in the muslim world
most palestinians want israel not to exist
most israelies favour an independant palestine
the way the media here portrays it, especially the "independant" liberal stuff all the political kids read, you dont get that impression at all......

strongly left-wing news sources like to call themselves "independant" (example for some reason..... i guess they mean they're not a big corporation..... when i think of hte independance of a news source, i think of it meaning in terms of bias... like do they have a social/political agenda, are they tied to certain social/political causes....... not financial independance..... anyways i think its a little misleading
sorry i should have said strongly politically opinionated people in general, all ages..... it applies to everyone
i was thinking "political kids" though cus at my age we practically are kids with big opinions on big issues that are based mostly on bullshit.... old people seem to tend to be a little calmer when it comes to jumping to pick one side or another, and they dont have as strong an 'anti-establishment' instinct affecting it, and they aren't as passionate about speaking out about a cause and trying to change other opinions..... i mean in general it seems to be a trend
not that adults are much more informed with their opinions

Not that I give a shit about being banned, but I'm certainly not an antisemite. If 6 million of my people were waxed, I'd wanna circle the wagons too. My experience with jewish racism came when I tried to date a JAP (jewish american princess) and her parents found out I was an Irish catholic- it was game over- they told her they would take away her inheritance if she married me.
Nice, huh?

"What about Jazz, hip hop, fucking rock and roll, blues? on and on- Nothing culturally relavant has come out of Europe
for at least 300 years."
ha ha!
"Jazz came to America 300 years ago in chains. The psalm-singing Dutch traders, sailing in 1619, described their cargo as '14 black African slaves for sale in his Majesty's colonies'. But this priceless freight - destined three centuries later to set a whole nation dancing - went unnoted and unhibited by the stolid, revenue-hungry Dutchmen.
The thrifty Dutch traders, after they had successfully disposed of their human wares and unwittingly assured a future for jazz, returned home to put their money in the bank and to repair piously to church and praise the Lord for his goodness."
- "Jazz", Paul Whiteman and Mary Margaret McBride
..anyway - if I only thought that you had any inkling of an idea what has been happening culturally in Europe for the last 300 years, I could take your statement seriously.

That bit about the marriage thing was funny. Sorry, but it made me chuckle. If a group of people had no interest in negotiating a compromise, but instead, wanted nothing except for to you to die or leave and was prepared to kill, randomly, innocent civilians until such time, wouldn't you want to keep them at arm's length? That's what's happened in Israel. That's why there is a wall.

if people were randomly blowing up and otherwise killing your citizens on streets and in restaurants and were intent on the destruction of your people, wouldn't you use force to stop them?
i dont get your point... you could try justify either side by saying its a natural reaction to the toher side...
also theres a big difference between the kind of force that removes someone from their home and the kind that destroys a bus full of random civilians
and theres a difference between using force to defend yourself and using it to simply kill as many people as you can

a great Comsky quote:
"When I'm driving, I sometimes turn on the radio and find that I'm listening to a discussion about sports. People call in and have long and intricate discussions with a high degree of thought and analysis. They know all kinds of complicated details and have far-reaching discussions about whether the coach made the right decisions yesterday and so on. They don't defer to sports experts; they have their own opinion and speak with confidence. These are ordinary people, not professionals, who are applying their intelligence and analytic skills in these areas and ccumulating quite a lot of knowledge. On the other hand, when I hear people talk about, say, international affairs or domestic problems, it's at a level of superficiality that is beyond belief. I don't think that international or domestic affairs are much more complicated than sports. And what passes for serious intellectual discourse on these topics does not reflect any deeper level of understanding or knowledge....It does not require extraordinary skill or understanding to take appart the illusions and deception that prevent understanding of contemporary reality. It requires the kind of normal skepticism and willingness to apply one's analytic skills that almost all people have. It just happens that people tend to exercise them in analyzing what, say, the New England Patriots ought to do next sunday instead of questions that really matter."
