People who exclusively like only one type of music have some
sort of problem.

this thread is 100% biased and full of bollocks. rock is
what got us here.
ill admit i hate the stuff out today, seeing as its just
leeching off the oldies.

death metal, grind...... thrash, all these are better than
any electronic.

sorry there REFLEX, ill have to disagree, its good, i mean i
love that kind of shit, like cannibal corpse, soilwork and
such, but electronic music sounds WAY better and is WAY more
talented

offline aphextriplet from your mothers bedroom (United Kingdom) on 2004-01-13 15:52 [#01031682]

tool is more talented than any IDM ive heard, and ive heard
plenty. I grant you that on the whole idm is much more
complex and talented than rock music. It takes a HELL of a
lot more effort and work to keep peoples attention when
theres no words. As ive started to figure out, making the
song writing transfer.

offline REFLEX from Edmonton, Alberta (Canada) on 2004-01-13 15:53 [#01031683]
Points: 8864 Status: Regular

Gwely Mernans: haha.. no fucking way buddy, I know its hard
to make great electronic, hell you have to be damn talented,
but man.. those guys aint got shit on insane guitar
progressions, change ups, chord work, solos, insane
drumming, bass lines that flow and match, and even dont,
...........

this is only a matter of opinion, Id really wish that people
could see that this is an age old argument, and is quite
lame to even discuss.

DEATH, GRIND = way better.

It depends what you like, I think that the electronic scene
is pretty hurting to tell the truth, a lot of pussies,
stupid dancing and no agression, to let loose attitude, just
shit.

offline REFLEX from Edmonton, Alberta (Canada) on 2004-01-13 15:54 [#01031687]

as well, electronic sets are so boring.

The guitar player for tool isn't amazingly talented, he even
said he shouldn't be a lead guitarist. Aphex twin is
definitely very talented, while its hard to compare directly
to Tool, I hold them both in high esteem

offline Gwely Mernans from 23rd century entertainment (Canada) on 2004-01-13 15:56 [#01031689]
Points: 9856 Status: Lurker | Followup to REFLEX: #01031683

you know what, i couldnt agree with you more on some of the
things you said.
but take a cd by some death metal grind
and another cd by lets say mr. techno.
on the metal cd you get loads of fuckin wicked solos and
drumming that just GIVR!! but it all sounds the same, every
song with the same gritty dirty sounding amped guitars, and
drums.
Now Mr. Technos cd has a variety of tracks, each featuring
different soundscapes for each track.

offline REFLEX from Edmonton, Alberta (Canada) on 2004-01-13 16:00 [#01031691]
Points: 8864 Status: Regular

Gwely: yeah but, for people like me its the other way
around, when I buy a lot of this techno stuff it mostly
sounds the same, I mean thats the thing right, death metal
sounds like death metal, and IDM sounds like IDM, now you
have the types that are a bit different right? same with in
death metal, but then there are so many that sound the same,
and if your heavy into IDM or death then you over look that
because you like it so damn much right? right,

and thusly this whole argument monoid the retard has tried
to make is quite lame. its all a matter of opinion.

electronic music nowadays... just more interesting to me...
getting a little bored with more rock... I also really enjoy
