non-electronic music by being so close-minded.

That would be too limiting. From classics, jazz, rock,
metal, grunge, pop, to electronics ;)

the last rock music i can think of that i thought was good
was interpol. i liked the polyphonic spree, which has some
rock elements.

to me, most rock music these days is long on anger and
posturing and costumes or mindnumbing clichés and short on
anything interesting.

the last rock music i listened to was the wolfhounds' "blown
away" (late eighties early nineties melodic distorted
british indie rock) a couple days ago. i would be very
surprised if anyone here has even heard it...

if i look at the whole body of a style or class of music,
what i like is always a small minority. consider all of the
classical music that's been composed, or even most
electronic music (including stuff like techno and trance),
most of it is totally uninteresting.

I usually don't even bother with threads like these, because
it seems that the content of every post is what the poster
considers to be the "only good rock bands." The whole time
I'm just sitting here thinking that they all suck, so I
might as well not say anything about them at all.

Rock on!

Other than guilty pleasure bands, I listen to almost
exclusively electronic on my own time. The only band I
consider myself a fan of that's *not* electronic is Sonic
Youth. It's no longer really an issue of liking stuff based
on whether it's synthesized or not, but who has the best,
most complex, intelligent music and ideologies (musical).
Most of these just happen to be electronic. This in turn
leads me to buy stuff that's almost exclusively electronic..
it's like a cycle! wow...

here's what happened. i went to a mate's place for a bit of
a session, and i had my chocolate wheelchair cd with me so
we all got bored as and put it on, and as soon as the first
track finished he took it out, had a whinge about there
being "no rhythm" (get fucked) and put on some fucking club
dance shit (that fucking heaven song) and i had to leave the
room not because of principles, but because i find that song
to be just so damn shit, especially when venetian snares had
been playing just before.

i HATE dance club music.
