In cows it's Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy. The human
version is Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease.

They name them differently so the masses can't make a
distinction.

its a very interesting disease name, ill use it for a song
name.

oh and from what I read, the disease turns your brain into a
sponge like material, ever pushing the brain outwards
pushing against the inner walls of the skull, making it
"mad"

I take your point very well.

I always told non meat eaters to leave me alone, but shit,
when you look into it, it's fucking revolting.

I'm don't know what to do, but I am going to try and find
some "organic" or small farms to support instead of this
crap.

Until then, I close to deciding not to eat any beef.

Imagine how the plant kindom feels with you Veg-heads eating
up all their reproductive organs. At least Carnivores put
the poor beasties out of their misery.

Side note on Mad Cow- Its caused by something called a
Prion- its not a virus or a bacteria, just some fucked up
protein that somehow induces the other proteins in the
connective tissue of your brain to fold incorrectly. The
result being the break down of the tissue- holes in the
brain.

No cure- no treatment.

And on that note Im off to have a nice fillet- prices are
dropping like a led zepplin.
YUM!!!!

they are using all of the animal and not just throwing it
out..

and various entrails anyone?

im sorry to sound extreme and criticizing meat eaters, but
you should know what your eating, i fucking hate ingorant
people who say i dont want to know...if what your eating
involves something you dont want to know about...doesnt that
tell you something?

also: heres where i criticize, i dont mean to but i feel i
must say this(dont take it personally though, im just trying
to get those who havent thought about this something to chew
on). any educated person who lives comfortably should not
eat meat...just the evidence that vegetarians\vegans are
alive and well should be enough proof but obviously it isnt.
if you can live without taking life, why would you choose
to? food is not meant to be eaten for your tastebuds, but
for your health. the whole notion of eating what tastes good
is deranged and ridiculous idea. now, if your living in the
woods or are an eskimo living in alaska or a tribesman in
africa, obviously meat is essential to live, but the average
person does not NEED to kill to live. just think about it,
thats all im saying. i was a meat eater 3 years
ago(although very little, ive never had steak, ham or any red
meat in my life) and i just started to question why i was
eating what i was eating. my questioning even led to my
parents becoming vegetarians. well thats enough talking for
me for now.

please keep your politics out of my belly.

30,000 years of primate evolution seems like a better
arguement to me than a few hundred years of vegitarian
dieting.

part of the problem of BSE has evolved because the bio
industry uses ALL of the meat.

you see, not all of it gets used in your food. what is left
over is fed back to the animals.

that is where BSE started.

mad cow is also a nervous system disease.

if that brain/spine/nervous tissue isn't eaten, you can't
get it.

Mad Cow is a threat to humans, which means we're eating
brains/spine etc.....

yuck

well it is pretty widely accepted in the biology community
that eating meat is responsible for primates evolving large
frontal lobes which helped us become the dominant species on
the planet.

so large frontal lobe, along with sharp teeth and eyes in
the front of the head indicate a meat eater. again, i go
with evolution on this one.

exactly.

I can see why people want to eat meat, but it should be done
in a humane way.

I hate the idea of an animal being just another product.

i think it's more along the lines of, when they slaughter a
cow, it is a huge mess so invariably a little of everything
gets into everything else. this is why hamburger is so much
worse than a straight steak and why you can eat rare steak
(seared on the outside) but eating rare burger is probably a
bad idea ( the outside is mixed up with the inside)

i'm not really sure if this applies to BSE though.

even if that is true, you can think. you can make
decisions.

evolution will go on with or without you. you will not die
any earlier because you do not eat meat.

really, what a shit argument..! as if you are tied by
evolution!

i can see that, i agree that the industry needs to be kept
in check, but no matter what, there will always be people
who object to the killing of animals. so where do you draw
the line? i say, draw no line. If you eat it, eat it. if
not, then fine. just don't harrass me with it.

I just want other people's politics off of my dinner plate.

nah, I'm not saying you can't eat meat because I choose not
too.

it's your choice. I would never try to stop anyone from
eating meat.

only when it comes down to the argument of evolution I think
it's just a mental scapegoat, if you will, some kind of
fuzzy logic to cover up having to make a real choice.

rather, that evolution shows me that it is not unhealthy or

I see what both of you are saying.

humans definetly evoloved with meat eating properties. Our
front canines make it obvious were weren't just herbivours.

I think qrter is just saying that because we DID eat meat
historically, doesn't mean we SHOULD now.

Our canine teeth are, like all the great apes, used for show
purposes and not for the tearing of flesh.

If you look at our physiology it does lean towards the
argument that humans are herbiverous.

Examples:

Carnivoures release heat by panting. Herbivours sweat
through pores.

Carnivours have short intestines. Herbivours have long.

Carnivours jaws are hinged to go up and down. Herbivours
jaws can move sideways.

Carnivours saliva is acidic. Herbivours alkaline.

Carnivours have claws, whereas we have very dextrous fingers
(for picking berries n' shit).

Carnivours digest meat raw. We have to cook meat to make it
safe and palettable.

Etc etc ad nauseum

i think, IMO, that we are both my man...
ever heard of omnivorous?
humans eat everything they can so that they can survive
virtually everywhere

it's not a question of being vege or carni in the beginning,
we all know we can turn ourselves in whatever we want in
these times, we just need to regulate the unnecessary
violence in those industries, wethere we eat meat or not.

it safe and palettable.

yep: that's the most logical explenation to why humans are
not meant to eat meat.
Cooking is cultural behaviour, not natural.
If can't digest something in its raw state (e.g. if we found
it in nature) I am pretty damn sure we (humans) are not
suppose to eat it.

what I mean is, there are things we do today cause of the
culture we live in (e.g. all technology).
Cooking is not something every man would do if we'd be
living on tropical islands / in jungles or wherever - we
would eat all food raw like we're suppose to.

Raw food isn't just "raw food" - it's LIVING FOOD. And as
living creatures our diet needs to contain mostly living
food, not dead (cooked) food.
Many people don't know the effects of cooked-food diets or
even "regular" (meat/milk etc) diets,
but if they did, I am sure they'd be eating differently.

Hehe.

I wish everyone would give eating healthy a chance - it does
soo much.
People describe it as reaching a "natural high"...
With own experience anyway, I know it's not worth eating a
cooked food diet, if one has the option of eating a rawfood
diet;
because you feel soo much better on a rawfood (vegan) diet.

I eat a raw/livingfood-vegan diet, so I eat mostly raw
fruits / vegetables
...

When I say rawfooddiet I mean 'healthy rawfooddiet', not
just 'any rawfooddiet'.
Although I prefer the term 'living foods-diet' I use
'rawfood-diet' here...

Just think about it, have you ever heard someone tell you to
eat less fruit? or that fruit / vegetables isn't good for
you?
Everybody knows they're good for you.
Though few people know that you can not just survive on a
diet like this, but that it also is a very natural diet for
us, if not the best diet (the most healthy; makes you feel
the best, and improves you physically and mentally).

People don't know how much they are affected by cooked
foods, mainly because they have been eating a cooked-food
diet all of their lives. If you want to find out how you are
affected, I urge to to look for answers.

Personally I know it's hard to talk about rawfoods to
cookedfoodists, because few understand the theory or are
unwilling to change (because they think it's too hard).
But the ones who do change, they sure get rewarded. You're
not giving up things, you're doing yourself a favour and
getting lots in return!

The difference between rawfoods / regular (meat) diet is
really big. I never was a vegetarian (altough I had
considered it for a long time) before starting with this
diet.
But I reccon, starting with is one of the best decisions
I've ever made.

A lot of things you can you say about this diet sounds "too
good to be true".
But I urge everyone to try it out.
Eating healthy makes such a HUGE difference, it can't be
imagined.

If you don't want to eat a livingfood/vegan diet for the
environment or for the animals, do it for yourself. Once
you're on the diet (it takes a while to adjust) you don't
want to go back.
