ramjets and scramjets

after a certain speed, say Mach 3+, you can just have a
little inlet, and the air going into the engine does half
the work for you, you just introduce gas, light it and go.

Mach 6-7 just like that

The only problem I can see with them is that the tray has to
be down all the time.

i don't think that this will EVER take off if you will with
the flying public.

people are on planes to get from point A to point
B......it's not like they wanna be in the plane one more
second than they need to be.....all this added space is
NICE, but not profitable or practical

airplanes are not ocean luxary liners.....these people have
the wrong idea....IMO

I tend to agree with her, and she does work in the
industry.

The bean counters don't want armrests if you can fit another
row of seats in there.

However, there is a limit to how many you can cram into a
plane without being close to windows, aisles. The width of
the plane allows the top deck to be 2-4-2, so it's just a
prodcut of that that the main deck is wider than 3-4-3 would
normally be designed for.

First class should be ace in these things, 1-2-1 in a cross
section like that is almost like your own plane.

I reckon in the vast majority of deep vein thrombosis cases
it's because their knees were jammed in by someone in the
chair infront. I actually wish they didn't make the seats
recline If people want to lie down, they ought to bite the
bullet and pay to go first class- not crush my legs. Does my
head in and I'm not even that tall, 6'2" which is within the
5-95% range of the population that furniture designers are
meant to accomodate.

i agree with Echo, airplanes should be diverse like fast
food burgers.

well, no.

however, this craft has been in the works for 7 years now,
maybe 9 or 10.

To finally see them cutting metal and putting it all
together, after years of pictures and speculation, blows my
mind.

Spare a thought for the poor old Tupolev TU-144.

holy fucking shit, you not only linked to a TU-144, the only
other commerical supersonic aircraft, but you made the link
from the website I spend most of my time on, browsing and
posting.

Airliners.net. I go by the username there, wonderful site
for everything aviation.

I just drop in occasionally to look at the photos. When i
was a little kid I was really into aeroplanes. I'm still one
of those people who will stop and look up whenevera plane
flies overhead though ;)

I live near East Midlands Airport, so there's a steady
stream of aircraft flying over throughout the day.

previous interest.
