This devil worm even goes so far as to attack Microsoft's
windows update site to prevent people from getting the
patch! story

Interesting story on slashdot - some war stories, and
a workaround to get more than 60 seconds to install patches.

security systems.

I realy think that sonething is going to down this weekend,
maybe sooner so look after your connection.

It's a wicked fucker. I'm glad my 2K box is patched, I'm
behind a firewall and my wife is running 95.

So far none of my clients are affected - most are running
98se on the desktop, and the ones with nt and 2k servers
have them behind firewalls. Which won't help if someone
brings in an infected laptop and they have an unpatched
server - also I heard sometimes the patch doesn't install
properly - zoinks!

When you get the 60 second countdown, change the system time
to one year before. That way you have some time to fix
things before it shuts down.

It's happening. just like in Terminator 3, the machine's
have become self-aware and are starting their attack on
mankind through our cyber-weakness: omnipresent networking.

Judgement day is beginning!

Head for the hills!

Okay, I got this last night.
I have dial-up, so this only happens when I connect to the
internet.

I got it to stop restarting thanks to Pomme de Terre's
advice of setting the RPC response to "take no action"

But MSBLAST.exe is still running in the background right
now.

So how do you tell if your windows XP is 32bit or 64bit so I
can get the correct patch?

Unless you have a pentium xeon processor you're prolly
32-bit. Unless your using some really new/expensive
hardware.
