Gonna blow the whistle on 'em, eh?

Also, since you didn't read the fine print, I'll warn you
about this: you're only on the list for eight years, then I
guess you have to reapply. So, in eight years, when you
start getting calls again, remember Doz told ya!

Telesales is on par with stealing on an ethical scale in my
eyes.

I don't mind Surveys about products/services I've bought
(recently my ISP rang me and asked me various questions
about my internet use) as that benefits me. I dislike people
hassling me in my free time (I frequently blank them in the
street) as ultimately "time is money". If I wanted to spend
my free time on the phone talking to strangers I could get a
part time job and earn money for it. Even if you quickly
reject every one that rings you, telesales callers will
probably waste a day or so of your life, not to mention the
electricty for the phone ringing due to phone calls.

When I get my own place I question whether I'll have a
phone. I got one this year and about 1/3 of the phone calls
on it were telesales. Why should I pay a standing charge for
the privelige of having someone with a regional accent so
strong you cannot understand them attempt to sell me some
form of home improvement when it's rented accodation?

I really would like it if anti-spam laws were extended to
telemarketing. It is exactly the same as spam emails (more
annoying as it can wake you up, make your dinner burn
etc.)/pop ups as jenf said.

Tell them "Oh good you called , could you tell me what is
that number you call when something really really bad has
happened ?
I think i just killed my husband!!
Btw would you be intrested in buying Napalm On Spraycan ?
I make them myself hehe!"

hahahhah....honestly i wouldn't buy a whistle, but lemmie
tell ya sometimes i get that MAD!!!

i DID read that (about the 8 years thingy), it said it on
the confirmation page. i just wanna see results immediately
if NOT sooner.

and Ceri.....i couldn't agree with you more. telemarketers
have caused me to buy a phone with a VISUAL ringer (i turn
the normal ringer OFF cos i don't wanna hear the phone
ringing at ALL hours with calls from peepz i don't know!)
sad thing is, i miss almost ALL my REAL calls because i
don't see the phone ringing. so yes i pay for telephone
service that i rarely USE......i use my CELL more (which i
have on VIBRATE for work) this is what i've resorted to, so
i can have some PEACE at home. =/

In the middle of the conversation now and again you could
stop and give some TIPS from that funny list you posted
earlyer hehe =)

"Btw don't waste money buying expensive binoculars. Simply
stand
closer to the object you wish to view."

"uhm...ok..."

#Conspiracy Theory 03452

All telemarketing organisations are actually simply
different divisions of Omnicorp. A multinational that
specialises in 3 things- visual ringers for land lines,
mobile phones and cancer research. Their aim is to annoy
people enough with the harassment of telemarketing so that
they will move to mobiles (which are not telemarketed due to
the cost of calls). This will lead to an increase in cancer
which is the companies main (most profitable) aim, they have
devised a cure for cancer and aim to have it available for
purchase in 2012.

BTW anyone heard if there are any plans for filters on
phones to remove spam text messages on phones?

last time i was called by a telemarketer, i acted all
interested in the free trip she was offering. then i asked
her if she wanted to come along and i assured her that i was
only interested in the trip if she would come with me and
also have lunch with me that day. She ended up hanging up
on me.

WOOT! I WIN!

Yep, I ignore it if I'm not expecting a call and I have
guests over, am eating, watching a film, etc. if it's
important/anyone that knows me will email me or use my
mobile no. to get a message through.

sometimes i listen for about a minute, to yell something
like 'SUCKSLUT' really loud into the mic.. just to piss em
off.. or i give them some fake data... 'how many ppl are in
your household' uuhm... '11'

they always try to sell me subscriptions to a newspaper. But
ofcourse i'm never interested because i'm already subscribed
to one (who isn't?!). It can be pretty annoying though. VERY
aggressive marketing, i do not like it.

One time i called down my brother from his room and said:
"there's someone on the phone for you.", hehehe when it was
infact just a telemarketeer who i had told my brother would
probably be interested :-p

He looked pretty pissed off, hehe.

They would be outside in the garden diggin or something and
semi run in and wash their hands before answering .
I felt bad afterwards but it was hard to resist haha!

What suprises me is how telesales can make enough money to
survive... unlike spam emails which can be done relatively
cheaply there's a fair amount of cost in a call centre...
I'm suprised anyone buys from them at all. I refuse on
principle, no matter how good a deal they're offering. I
imagine it's old people who are too polite to tell them to
fuck off that get suckered into buying stuff from them.
