for all you's in da U.S.A. that are tired of TELEMARKETERS,

i registered just a bit ago, i'm hoping this will stop the
incessant calls !!!

good luck! =0)

the site's been busier that shit all day... haven't been
able to register.

but, what with all the GD loopholes it's probably not gonna
be worth much a shit anyway.

i'm still stoked about it though.

try again, it didn't go thru the first time and when i tried
again 5 minutes later went through easy!!

REFLEX telemarketers are the BANE of my existance, i've had
to turn my ringer off and get a visual ringer cos i can't
stand the sound of a phone ringing all day and night
offering me everything but the kitchen sink!

dunno if it works for canadians, you can check the site and
find out tho!

good luck all

I will tell you guys something. I know it's annoying that
you get called by us telemarketeers once in a while. But
think of how annoying it is to us when the respondents act
like stupid twats on the phone. I mean, we're just doing our
work (most of the times we hate the questions we have to ask
just as well as you do, and we have to ask them ALL NIGHT).
Sometimes respondents can be real bitches and they sometimes
are out to offend us. Many people just hang up as soon as
they hear it's a telemarketeer. Such rude behaviour can get
rewarded with a new phone call with one of us saying
innocently: "I'm sorry, I think something went wrong with
the connection." (not everyone does this though). It appears
that in cases like those people often ARE able to refuse an
interview in a normal manner :P

I don't mind chatting to these people only if I have the
time, I can usually do other things such as tidy up, whilst
speaking to them, on the cordless house phone.

But I will be honest and say, that probably 60% of the time
I'd probably say I was too busy - I'm never rude though

because my paw was a little sore, my owner lifted me into my
vets arms and she looked at my paw holding it really gently
and looked into my eyes.......she said 'I'm going to have to
put him down!' My owner, shocked yelled 'What? what's a
matter with him?'.....She said I was really too heavy and
she had to put me on the floor....

The problem I have is that most of the time saying "No,
thank you, I'm not interested" doesn't work against these
people. I usually end up having to hang up on them, and I
don't like doing it, but I didn't ask them to call me and
waste my time in the first place.

If it's a survey I'm on.
If they try to sell me something I'm still not buying it...

have a feeling it's a more serious problem than europe.

i didn't think it existed in europe till you mentioned it

I actually got a call this morning....something about what
radio stations I like best. But since I never listen to the
radio I couldn't answer their questions (otherwise I
would've).

When you talk about telemarketeers, do you mean the people
that want to sell you stuff or the people who do market
research (just asking questions)? Cos I agree with you that
those tele sales are indeed awful, but what I do is just
market research.

Telemarketers are just that, telephone marketers.

looking to sell you stuff, a "free" trip, new credit card,
whatever and ever.

Survey calls are ok, and I usually try to take the time if
it is somewhat interesting. Blind calls over the phone to
sell you something you don't need though...........THE
WORST!

All kinds of stuff really. Magazines, softdrinks,
insurances, mobile phones.

They're mostly questions about the image of a product or
company and questions about what can be improved about a
certain product. These questions can bge really vague/dumb
at times but at least it's better than selling stuff on the
phone.

meh, i think telemarketers are about as rude as pop-up ads
when you're using a web browser. it's the right of a
capitalist system to milk what they can, and how they do it
is up to them - within legal loopholes of course ;)
of course, i do agree that being offensively and
ostentatiously rude to the caller is not such a polite thing
to do - but whenever they call me, i just say 'no im not
interested. bye' that's all. that's not rude, that's just to
the point.
you can't love everyone's job and vice versa.
also, avoid doing the obvious shit, like giving away your
phone number in forms that aren't important. try to place
your phone number as unlisted, even if you have to pay a
small fee per month.
