I ve read every post of this thread... and I still have one
great closer tune for an album:

out there somewhere? - in sides (orbital)

we could do also the best album openers:
the girl with the sun in her head - insides (orbital)

this album is such a perfect piece of music that it has imo
the best opener and the best closer.

as for aphex twin I think he does choose nice tunes as
closers too:

next heap with (i care because you do)
nannou2
(already mentioned of course)

I also have my favourite in non electronica closers:

teo torriatte - a day at the races (queen)
hymn of the big wheel - blue lines (massive attack)

so what best openers would you choose?

i disagree with Bread & Wine from Passion and All Is Full Of
Love from Homogenic... sometimes i just stop at the track
before, because i feel like thoses tracks (even though
they're very beautiful and all) are too much, and i'd prefer
the previous tracks as an ending.

- some of my favorite endings:
· Adler Kommt Später (E.N - ...Richterskala)
· Spudink (Plaid - Not For Threes)
· Wish Fullfilment (rehearsal recording) (Sonic Youth -
Dirty del.ed.)
· Tainted Love (Coil, Scatology)
· Der Schacht Von Babel (E.N, Ende Neu)
· Champagne Supernova (Oasis, (What's The Story) Morning
Glory?)
· Next Heap With (7\, ICBYD)
· Third Eye (Tool, Ænima)
· Last Ap Roach (>[], Music Is Rotted One Note)
· Blackwater Park (Opeth, Blackwater Park)
· The Great Below (NIN, The Fragile - left)
· Weakness (Opeth, Damnation) - this one always leaves me
speechless...

also some endings i love but always have to play at least
twice because i love them so much:
· [matchsticks] (7\, SAWII)
· Manyme (Plaid, Double Figure)
· Christmas Is Now Coming Near (Coil, Moon's Milk [in four
phases])

ooh just thought of two more..

'long singing' from fridge's 'happiness'
and 'soon' from my bloody valentine's 'loveless'

i havent really thought about good openers, though they are
just as important as good closers..
lets see...

airbag from ok computer
jynwheythek from drukqs
squarepusher theme from meed me weird things
cliffs from saw2, as well as xtal from saw1
scaling from royal astronomy
alison from slowdive's souvlaki
music is math from geogaddi (even though its the second
track)
the beginning of rotor+'s aileron
the beginning of clouddead's album
angel from massive attack's mezzanine
human behaviour, army of me and hidden place from post and
vespertine, respectively...i guess hunter's a good opening
track too, come to think of it.. bjork's really good at
album sequencing
vi scoise poise from confield
digeridoo from classics
4 from rdj album
the first track on deep puddle dynamics' the smell of
rain/why kneel?
playground love from the vigin suicides score

ok ok i'll stop now.. there are probably tons of better ones
i didnt even think of..
