There There is my favourite.

Scatterbrain is my least favourite and could easily have
been left off the album.

'2 + 2 = 5'
it's paranoid android's cousin, probably radiohead's
greatest track imo.

'a wolf at the door'
perfect from start to finish. i prefer when thom sings with
a straight voice instead of his insanely high-pitched whiny
voice.

2+2=5 just fucking rocks, start 2 finish

'Where i start'... is apparently an old U2 song

this is hard, but the triplet in the direct middle of the
album, Where i end, suck young blood, and the gloaming
really pack a punch, so i'll say them

We Suck Young Blood, or Sail To The Moon. Creepy.

i feel like i've committed a deadly sin for not already
having HTTT in my possession. But I'm broke so I have an
excuse.... but I could go rob someone... hmmmm.... if only I
had a Magnum.

*goes to punish himself*

this album has really grown off of me....i don't really like
it much at all. on first listen i thought it was pretty
good, but the more i hear it the less i can stand it. i
still like sit down stand up, but i am really tired of it
because i have already heard it 8 million times (it was the
only mp3 that i listened to early). not to crazy about the
end of the song however. the fourth track is decent. other
than that, i probably won't listen to it.

what an album!
i like every single track on HTTT!

were i end... , the part "i'm up in the clouds" is
just great, so spooky and beautiful .. but sail to the
moon
& we suck young blood are sooo great too ,
i can't pick one
i love this album, i wonder if it'll ever bore me, i think
not

From what i have heard,
I really think it's a step backwards comparing to Amnesiac.
Am I the only one?

it's different, not comparable

a step aside i would say

Apart from 'I Will', I think it's a great album. Some
excellent lyrics in there too.

Four Tet is remixing Scatterbrain - can't wait for that.

I like Amnesiac more than Kid A, actually. it's less
cohesive, but it has more powerful, striking songs that
strike a personal chord w/ me.. and I dont mind that pulk
song.. I actually quite like it.. you and whose army is the
shit.. !!!

I really cant pick a favorite from hail to the theif..
'where I end...' sounds WAY too much like war-era u2 to be a
great radiohead song

offline theo himself from +- on 2003-06-16 06:02 [#00742638]

and I cant think of any good reason why they took the
harmonizing second layer of vocals out of "a punchup at a
wedding".. the song is much weaker w/o them

? i don't see "where i end..." as an U2 song at all.. do you
(and grinningcat) really think it sounds like U2?

or did you just read the pitchfork review where chris ott
wrote: This leads into "Where I End and You Begin", which
is the only real low point on the album, as aside from
Yorke's vocals, it's a U2 song.
...

I think backdrifts is the worst track on the album but the
rest is very solid.

pearl jam influence? i dont hear a bit of that and frankly I
think pearl jam is garbage(yes even all their earlier
stuff)

Sit Down Stand Up takes me breath away... the first 3/4ths
of it, at least. The end is phenomenally lame. Sail to the
Moon is probably my fave, no misteps there.

I also really like Myxamiotosis, really unique style... but
it lacks something.

who cares if it does sound like U2? Are you saying you don't
like it just because it sounds like U2, or because you just
don't like it? Because, to not like something just because
it sounds like a band you consider to be crap, is a pretty
lame reason to not like something...

Steve Lamacq on Radio 1 just played that Four Tet remix of
Scatterbrain. Pretty damn good.

I think they archive the show so if you check on the site
tomorrow they may have it up.

anyone noticed how theirr 'new' style of electrronic music
seems to be inspirred by Laika. only morre subtle.

since i think it has changed slightly

dude.. you obviously dont know u2 if you cant see the
obvious similarities.. it screams u2

and no I didnt get that from a goddamn pitchfork review

I've noticed parallels in pearl jam's and radiohead's
music.. not too often.. but there there is very ..hmm. it's
very recent pearl jam

war is my favorite u2 album and i hear some similarities but
i wouldn't say the song and u2 are all that similar.. u2
don't use the ondes martenet [sp] for example, bono doesn't
write the same kind of lyrics (except for the title lyric),
phil selway's a much better drummer..

2+2=5 has now taken the lead over There There, but it's
still very close.

The beat and sounds in The Gloaming sound a bit Autechrian
to me, I've been diggin that one alot more lately as well.

Backdrifts

i just bought HTTF a couple hours ago, listened to the whole
album, and honestly it's the only trac i like right now,
albeit very much.

haven't even listened to it. i picked it up along with
opeth's deliverance and it's just been sitting around
for the last few days. i'll get around to it eventually.
i've been too busy rockin' out to opeth. =]

oh wait, punchup at the wedding isnt very good either i
thought and doesnt seem to fit with any of the other tracks
at all.

im not putting down u2(im not a fan but i dont have a
problem with them) but how does httt at all sound like u2
even remotely, id like to hear some thoughts on this.

jesus christ.. one song.. one song I'm talking about. "where
I end and you begin" sounds rediculously like late 80's U2..
I cant believe people arent willing to admit that

ooh i wouldn't say late 80s, early 80s at best.. there's a
faint musical resemblance to war and boy with the vocal
stylings of later albums

this album is boring me a bit. it just lacks a certain
something that kid a and ok computer had.
no big deal, but its definitely not on that level.
i like thom yorkes idea of making only eps from here on out.
experimental music on one, rock on another, and maybe a shot
at hearing some unreleased classics like big ideas, big
boots, lift, follow me around.
