I don't care how many threads there are, I just bought this today!!!
My favorite track is There There... love it... so much better through headphones!
I find most of the melodies on this album really nice and interesting though... like they're not quite regular, just slightly strange if you get my drift...

and this album has made be so happy... seriously... I realize the lyrics are all probably depressing and such (haven't really paid attention to them yet), and the music itself is, but for some reason this has been such a great day... seemed to lift me out of a slump I was in...

i just got it today and it's dope! dunno what ppl were complaining about. the only songs i'm not feeling yet are: myxamatosis (sounds like a b-side, not the best melody or cleverest lyrics.. in fact thom repeats a prominent line from the b-side "cuttooth"!), sit down stand up (too skeletal sounding, needed more fleshing out.. songwriting and production), and backdrifts (not their best electronic track, much prefer the new b-side "where bluebirds fly".. holy shit!).
only backdrifts and the gloaming were new to me, been listening to live versions of the rest since last summer.
i will and wolf at the door are so beatles. where i end and you begin is an impossible seeming combo of joy division and neil young (this is my favorite song on the album). there there is pure perfection. 2+2=5 rocks much better than the live versions (though when i saw them this past weekend they blew the roof off this track).
overall i give this album an 8 out of 10 after 3 listens. going to keep this one in my player along w/ the new blur (so underrated) and prefuse.

yeah, There There is amazing... love the bass lines during the chorus, and the whole beat is great... as well, the cool guitar freak out towards the end is wicked... definitely the best on the album so far imo...

the new blur wouldn't be so underrated if they didn't have such an annoying single..
i don't know what it's called but it's got some stupid electronic, krang-from-tmnt-sounding voice at the begining, and the only memorable lyrics are the annoying, high-pitched, "YEA YEA YEA YEA." just my opinion, though..

unlike The Bends, Ok Computer, and Kid A, I wasn't blown away on first listen... but I've been listening all night, and it's growing on me a lot... I like those kinds of albums better anyways, the growers... cause you develope a greater love of the music I think... I really enjoy the mix of rock and electronic on this... that's one thing I really love about Radioheads newer stuff, is that you get rock, and electronic stuff, and sometimes both together... and I love rock and electronic music, so it's a perfect combo for me!
and I will give props to a band like U2 for doing the same, blending rock and electronic music... however, U2 was always blending more poppy dancey electronic music with their rock... whereas Radiohead goes for the IDM...

"crazy beat" is just there for the mooks, the "song 2" fans (hey i love that song too, but i like blur's OTHER stuff also)
"crazy beat" and "we've got a file on you" would've been great for elastica.
i saw blur this past weekend as well (field day festival) and they were incredible. damon albarn is such a great frontman and he really made a connection with the audience. it was just a fun show and the songs were performed expertly. my fav new songs are "ambulance" and "out of time."

ah, i bought the limited edition today. i'm digging this album alot, although it can't touch kid a or ok computer. no matter though. my fave track(s)
1. where i end and you begin : best thing on this album hands down. the "eat you alive" part at the end is amazing. and the ondes martonets are so dense. awesome song.
2. punchup at a wedding: i don't know why i hated this song live, but its really grown on me. awesome.
3. wolf at the door: same thing as punchup
4. myxomatosis: sounds like ok computer through a fuzzbox. really cool melodies and i like the keyboards on this, they're gigantic.
overall after one listen all the way through, i'm giving this one a 9/10
radiohead albums from greatest to not as good: 1.ok computer 2.kid a 3.hail to the thief 4.the bends 5.pablo honey (thats right, its above amnesiac) 6.amnesiac

amnesiac, that awful album containing pyramid song, life in a glasshouse, knives out, and like spinning plates, such TERRIBLE songs.
:P
i don't get why people dis amnesiac. even if it doesn't flow as well as LP's 2, 3, and 4, it still has some of radiohead's best songs, which is more than i can say for pablo honey (which only has a couple really stellar tracks: you and blow out).

yeah, like spinning plates and pyramid song are my fave tracks from the last three albums, but the rest of that album just doesn't do it for me. i'm getting into pablo honey for some reason lately, mainly for the two tracks you name, and for stop whispering. i suppose putting it above amnesiac is harsh.
i'll say they're tied, and sure, its absurd to imply that in terms of song writing pablo honey is better than amnesiac. but pulk. PULK? blech.

pulk isn't really meant to be listened to as a song.. it serves as "part of the album". not quite the same thing as filler, but as a device meant for musical diversity it could've been executed a lot better. would've loved to hear a collab w/ dj shadow or kid koala instead.

oh, i know. it still doesn't do it for me, but to each his own.
there was a time when i loved amnesiac, but that album has drifted away.
and when i heard the knives out bsides...well, they wouldn't have fit on the album at all, but the album didn't flow as it was, so i would have preferred a cuttooth or fog in place of a pulk or morning bell amnesiac.

ah yes, kinetic. thats an awesome song. i made an alternate tracklist to amnesiac that runs something like this:
1. cuttooth 2. pyramid song 3. the amazing sounds of orgy 4. you and whose army? 5. i might be wrong 6. knives out 7. dollars and cents 8. kinetic 9. like spinning plates 10. fog 11. worrywort
it flows alright, but i don't like changing set tracklists in general. it gets on my nerves when people suggest different tracklists for ok computer because they think fitter happier is filler material.

yes, 'where i end and you begin', 'scatterbrain', 'sail to the moon' are all amazingly gorgeous
'where i end..' and 'there there' are some of their best 'love songs' in a while
i actually like 'wolf at the door' and 'myxomatosis' a lot too.
though i must say, paper bag writer and where bluebirds fly are better electronic tracks than the ones that ended up on the album. (aside from 'where i end..' of course)

good choice, I'd pick I will from the demo version as well, as it's way better than the mastered one. However I also agree that it's hard to chose just one track as there are so many who are great in their own right.
My top one would be: 1. Where I end and you begin 1. I Will( unmastered version) 1. 2+2=5(unmastered version) 1. There There 1. Wolf at the door 1. The gloaming

This is too hard, i can't choose. I'm listening to the album right now, and with (almost) each song i go: "yes! This is so good, this must be it! This is my favourite for sure" (for instance right now it's Sit Down Stand Up... the part where he bursts into the "raindrops the rain drops"-part is just so good!).
But like i said, this happens with each song... there are too many to choose from. My list of favourites would look too much like the tracklisting ;-)
Where is jarworski though? I am hearing the pearl jam-similarities he talked about so much at some moments (specifically 2+2=5 & Go To Sleep have pj written all over them... "don't question my authority or put me in the box, cos i'm not, cos i'm not"... i swear, it's like i'm listening to eddie vedder.
Great great album though... even better than i had expected.

I can't believe how quickly this album grew on me. There There has to be the best track, most satisfying overall, best lyrics on the whole album.
One thing though, the last track (tied favourite, may end up second place) makes me want more Radiohead.
'Please God, give us more Radiohead.
