isnt it just great when you like an album and you discover
later on that you like it even more?

the same thing is happening to me with "higgins ultra
low..." by venetian snares

even better when you hate an album, and then start to love
it... that's happened to me a nice bit!

that happened to me with melody am by royskopp and yeah it
sure is nice
(its not that i hated it i just thought it wasnt anything
good about it)

nod, that's kind of happening to me with that album as
well... I'm slowly getting into it... it's kinda nice!

offline CORTEX from Canada on 2003-11-01 14:04 [#00928958]

so, do you still rate it the same? i still give it a solid
9/10.

i got a little tired of 'surripere', but 'theme of a sudden
roundabout' and 'p:ntil' grew a lot more on me, so it
compensates.

anyway, any comments?
(apart from the usual "hey, you cant rate an album with a
number")

my suggestion:
rate the tracks using the discography.

i'd give it a 7.9

its alright, id say about a 7.5

heres my top ones:
confield
lp5
chiastic slide

offline DeadEight from vancouver (Canada) on 2003-11-01 14:22 [#00928966]

my faves are:
Confield
the second half of Lp5
Cichli Suite
++ (as in disc 2 of the american tri-repetae release)

futuristic in 5 years :|

10-those sounds are sensational

i love in chiastic and cichli suite how they deconstruct
some of the songs to fade into just strings

Not their best

offline Ophecks from Nova Scotia (Canada) on 2003-11-01 19:38 [#00929411]

Hindsight is 20/20, and 5 years later, I still love this
album. But still, not as much as Confield, even disregarding
the ''shock'' factor that... really wasn't there this time.

8.5/10, one of their best. I think only Chiastic Slide and
Confield top it.

offline DaWeeze from WANTED IN 16 STATES! on 2003-11-01 20:04 [#00929459]
Points: 5213 Status: Addict

Still has enough twists and turns to keep it interesting.
"Surripere" was a welcome surprise, as well as "Xylin Room"
and "V-Proc" being the hardest hitting beats they've done in
a long time.

So:

Tri Repetae
Confield
LP5
--> Draft 7.30 <--
Chiastic Slide
Incunabula
Amber

Out of 10, NONE of those albums rate below a 9 AFAIC...

æ is STILL the undisputed champion of w00t!

:D

I think on a scale of 1-10 I would say that probably because
the poll result shows, my influence would have to be, what i
think which is that Draft 7.30 is the album which is made
for listening and like the score is 5.0 and stuff

yeah, and that makes no sense and is very pointless.

But wait! there`s more!

So is debating this!!

haha!

if you can represent the whole album with one number then i
think you are dumb

I would give it a solid 8, if it wasn't for those bloody
drum samples they use all throughout the albums. I mean,
Autechre *is* known through their discography to have parted
out of typical percussions and beats. Their research is
extensive and magestual to find out the right sound.

Now what does Draft has? Boring percussions that were done
a million times before. I mean, snares and hi-hats and
other crapola?

IV VV IV VV VIII only has a 3.60? Are you guys retodded?

Surripere is cleaning house. It's too long for my tastes
though.

the point of this thread was to see if your opinion of draft
7.30 would change over a long period of time.

so 2 years later, here we are: has your rating of this album
changed?

2 years ago: 9.1
now: 9.5

it's my 2nd favorite, right behind lp5.

IT'S CRAZY FUKING GOOD.

XYLIN ROOM? do i Even have to mention that crazy break at
3:16 or wherever where that crazy fuking high pitched syth
nails in all at once? comes CRASHING DOWN ON you like a
curtain has been leaked down and your trip just slamms into
play!

IV VV IV VV VIII ? WHAT? crazy good

61E.CR ARE YOU FUKING KIDDING ME?

the first track is one of the most "head nodding" autechre
tracks ever, nod yer head up to that shit,

then the 2nd half kicks in with the most crazy fukin intense
beautiful synth type stuff i cant even put into words but
it's one of my fav autechre parts ever. the ending is out of
this world spectacular bliss

TAPR is the only track i cant compile
keep getting these fuking linked list errors and im about
positive im pulling all of the correct libraries into play

so im not sure , it's been well over a year or however long
but i still cant get this to compile

surrpiere? well yeah ok when i heard the first few notes i
knew right away it was "the" track on the album ... the
"mount saint michaels" track of draft.

just out of this world, no need to say how good it is

THEME OF SUDDEN ROUNDABOUT, damn this track is CRAZY hot
especially when it slams in 2 minutes or so and just gets
crazy thick

VL AL 5 is really smooth shit i like blasting it ... another
top track

P TNIL is the shit because in the beginning there is a part
that is a direct audio sequence that perfectely mimicks the
collapse of a spanning tree group *802.1d IEEE

VPROC, yeah crazy hardcore backwards inside out track I LIKE
THIS ONE A LOT

renifORM PULS? DOODZ R U SEROUZ it doesnt get much better
than this track

brilliantly layed out , really smooth really curious and
deliberate!!!!

i dont like rating albums as numbers beacuse it doesn't make
any sense (dont know who invented it?)

i would rate this album a 2.71828183 (e)

I liked it a lot at first, and now I think it's the once I
reach for least.

Maybe it's the mastering - does it strike anyone else as
overcompressed / limited? Too many of the tracks are crunchy
sounding to me. Everything is hard and obvious like a
dentist's drill.

6ie.cr i was listening to
the beat structure/pattern tries to change, doesn't find the
right ending, repeats, then settles on filling in the blank
it's own way
disappears leaving only skeletal remains and opens up a huge
amount of space where those synth melodies are, arpeggios
it's really good.

offline elusive from detroit (United States) on 2005-04-16 22:59 [#01567873]

6ie.cr 2nd 1/2 is out of this world.

it's the most beautiful autechre i've ever had the chance to
hear.

offline elusive from detroit (United States) on 2005-04-16 23:03 [#01567874]

that really faint / soft synth is just comforting the 1st
1/2 beat structure, repeatedly and gently reminding it to be
REASONABLE!!!!

offline elusive from detroit (United States) on 2005-04-16 23:05 [#01567875]

i like it the same as when i first heard it (well, first
digested it, so 3-4weeks after i first heard it).

which is good; isn't boring, still gives me the rush
feelings ... the roller coaster ride.

def. one of my fav ae albums, but im not sure why.

it is the first album i had to take foreverto digest ...
confield wasn't much of a challenge for me , but it did grow
like crazy.

but draft took a lot of work and time to get to know, and
that's prolly why

4.5 -> 5.0 with familiarity. It is still my least favourite

dry.
