nono no... i think morton was on to something, i think the titles are funny sometimes. I like the way each and every one of them (except that pesky pilot-episode) starts with "the".
The wallet, the virgin, the gum, the rye, the shower head, the calzone, the junkmail, the blood... i especially like them if the subject is ridiculous. "The shower head? What the f*ck..... who's going to make an episode about a showerhead? How will that ever be funny?"

hence the title is great because the episode is great...
well i like friends too, the way titles can be creative like a shower head makes me laugh, true.

oh good! :-D That's the one with miss world right? *checks*
yeah... should be fun to see that one again!
Kramer: "Let's try a few more questions, alright? If you were Miss America, and the U.S. was on the brink of a nuclear war, and the only way the conflict could be averted was if you agreed to sleep with the enemy's leader, what would you do?"
Karen: "Kramer, are these questions really that important...?"

tonight: The big salad
[Newman's apartment] [knock knock] Newman: Who is it. Jerry: It's Jerry. Newman: You've come at a bad time now. Could you come back later?
Jerry: Come on Newman. OPEN THE DOOR! Newman: Hellooo Jerry. What a rare treat. What brings you down to the east wing?
Jerry: Okay, pudgy, lets stop playing games. What happened with margaret?
Newman: There's no need to get excited. Can't we discuss this like gentlemen?
Jerry: No, we can't. My skin is crawling just being inside your little rat's nest. Now, what happened?
Newman: Do you really want to know what happened? I'll tell you what Happened. She wasn't my type.
Jerry: Not your type? Newman: Not really. Jerry: Well, how come? Newman: Ah, she just didn't do it for me. Jerry: What, what is wrong with her? Newman: Well, h ha ha- if you're happy with her, that's all that matters.
Jerry: You don't think she's attractive? Newman: No. I need a really pretty face. But, Hey, that's me.
Jerry: Okay, Newman, thanks a lot. Newman: Care for some lemonade? Jerry: No, thank you. Newman: Drop bye anytime, jerry. Hah, ha ha
love it!

Whenver I hear Green day's "Good riddance (Time of your life)" I think of Seinfeld =)
It was used in the 3rd last episode... ah. Seinfeld still cheers me up...
Yesterday was that funny episode when Elaine's dating a communist, Kramer works as Santa in a mall, Jerry's dating a girl called "Lois" (a lot of Superman-feeling in this episode ;).
"I choose not to run"!

"now what the hell happened!?!??"
well they cancelled seinfeld :-( Apparantly. There was some "the making of a new rowan atkinson film" i think. But no seinfeld.
What a bummer :-/
The Ring was the scariest horrormovie i've seen in... well... it might just be the scariest. Period. That one really got on my nerves.
The japanese version is even better? I'll have to see that one too then :-) I doubt my local videorentalstore carries obsure japanese movies though...

A friend of Geroge/Jerry [Gary Vogel] has been fooling Jerry he's got cancer and Kramer wants to get a new look.
Elaine's previous boyfriend has a pair of glasses that Kramer wants, but the boyfriend refuses to tell where he got them (he wants to be the only one with them)...
That's the story so far. Also there's a cop who wants to catch a certain car...

also the whole thing about "the ring" is more clear. The story is so much more logical than in the US. (there are no horses in the japanese).
I think the japenese version is being released on video worldwide, so go ask for it. It's called "Ringu".

"the japanese is even scarier...!"
haha! I find that hard to imagine...
"Has better story to!!!"
the story is different?? But i thought this was just a straight remake. And i loved this story. It's great how the movie made everyday objects seem scary. Like telephones and videotapes and televisions... it makes it all feel so "real"... like it could actually happen.
My problem with japanese movies is the language. Whenever i watch a forreign movie, i can read the subtitles ofcourse. But i still also listen to what the actors are saying. And you can still tell from their tone of voice what kind of emotions they are feeling. But with these oriental languages i find that very hard... i wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a happy japanese voice and a sad japanese voice. So in order to understand the story, i always have to focus really hard on the subtitles... it makes watching the movie a little unpleasant. But still i will try to find the original version.

Okay, so yesterday i bought a dvd of the japanese version of Ring.
I have to say though... i felt the american version was better. Like i said earlier in this thread the acting is usually a problem for me in japanese movies. The language is so very different from most other languages that i have a really hard time believing the actors. I just felt no sympathy for most of them... they weren't able to suck me into the story as with the american version.
"well... atleast the story is way better (way more logical, more realistic) than in the english."
well i don't know about that... i noticed all the differences. But i actually thought that most of the times the americans had made a wise decision to do it their way. I guess i'm just a sucker for big hollywood-movies.
"They've added some stuff to the english that's suppose to be scary (but they just make the story less logical)."
But the original just did not really scare me. I'm probably stepping on some toes by saying this but... i even thought it all seemed a little amateuristic :-/ The way all those people were litterally scared to death... they just scream and the picture freezes.
In the american version you had those very short flashes of their faces (the people who had died)... and they seemed almost like zombies. Those flashes alone scared me that death... and it also makes you think: "jesus... what the hell happened to them?"
"well. do watch the japanese anyway. It rocks!"
I thought it was interesting to see the original. It sheds a different light on the story in a way. But the american movie is just so much more polished... when it comes to movies my taste is probably alot more mainstream than in music.

just saw it (jap. version), didn't like it one bit! i expected way more from this movie (after all i read and heard)
i also highly doubt if i'll like the american version i can't believe people actually saying that this is a 'good' or 'scary' movie, i just don't get it, but it's probably just me :)
maybe we should get back on topic and talk about seinfeld :D
one of my fav. episodes is 'the phone message' (episode 009)
i can't be arsed to paste some quotes from that episode here now since i'm fuckin' tired and about to go to bed already, but this episode kept me laughing from the beginning till the end, george is just sooo great :)

In the american version you had those very short flashes of
their faces (the people who had died)... and they seemed almost like zombies. Those flashes alone scared me that death... and it also makes you think: "jesus... what the hell happened to them?"
Ah... Well for one thing... how logic is that? What made them zombies... this is the kinda stuff they added to make it "scary"... I guess most people liked that, so sure, but I don't like when you add stuff like this to make the movie more scary.
Also it's more logical that it was a dialect they were looking for, than a lighthouse (and she found that lighthouse like in an hour... Naomi's fast =)
Also I thought it was WEIRD they hadn't kept the idea that Samara was a freak, in the english version.
Also some scenes were scarier in the Japanese (more tension) like the scene where Samara (if that is her name... can't remember) comes out of the TV... That scene was much better (my opinion) in the Jap. than in the Am.
Also what was the deal with the whole burning tree? that was stupid. Much more logical that the phone ONLY rang in the cabin.
Also the whole RING THEME, >>> that you need to make a copy, and show it to someone > much more obvious in the Japanese version.
I can go on and on =) But. Yes. Some things are better in the English (such as the beautiful photo, and the beautiful -Naomi Watts-)

Have any of you guys seen Curb Your Enthusiasm yet? It rocks. If you don't already know it involves Larry David (the real George Costanza) getting into Seinfeldish scrapes.
Its done in a completely different naturalistic/improv style to Seinfeld so isn't as gag heavy, but i find it's refreshing occasionally hilarious.

"Well for one thing... how logic is that? What made them zombies... "
well they were scared to death :-p
In the japanese version you saw scared people... but you don't die from being scared... or? I like that the american version gave the impression that they witnessed something so horrible you can't even imagine it, and it turns you into a zombie.
But... i must agree if you're saying the japanese version is more logical :-) Being logical doesn't make a movie better for me though.
"lighthouse (and she found that lighthouse like in an hour... Naomi's fast"
hahaha, yes that is true. There is alot of coincidence and luck in the american version. A bit too much :-p But the thing is, the entire film was so scary i didn't even notice it, until afterwards when i started to think about it.
"Also I thought it was WEIRD they hadn't kept the idea that Samara was a freak, in the english version."
To make it scarier? They weren't really concrete, but in the american version it seemed almost as if she was some sort of demon.
I also loved that scene (that wasn't in the jap. version at all), where Naomie told her son they helped samara... and the kid freaked out and said: "you helped her?! Why!?"... that kid just felt samara was pure evil.
"comes out of the TV... That scene was much better (my opinion) in the Jap. than in the Am."
Well i can't really judge about that. When i was in the theatre i almost literally jumped from my seat when she actually came out of the television :-p
When i watched the jap. version i knew it was coming, and it didn't scare me at all. I guess this is a matter of which version you saw the first time... the effect can only scare you once. It looked alot better in the (expensive) american version though.

"Much more logical that the phone ONLY rang in the cabin."
yeah but much more scary that it would ring everywhere... emphasizing the fact that there's no way to escape samara... she's just everywhere.
"that you need to make a copy, and show it to someone > much more obvious in the Japanese version."
really? I thought that was much clearer in the american version. (in the american version they gave a reason --> samare wants to be heard). In the jap. version it was just a fact. "if you make a copy you don't die. Why? I don't know."
Also in the jap. version it was just a voice explaining it while she was driving away. In the american version you actually saw them making a copy... and that kid asking: "but what happens to the person who seems the copy after us?"
Jesus :-p That gave me goosebumps! What a horrible ending... just the dilemma... you have to die, or make a copy (and making a copy is almost the same as killing someone else)... to die or to kill... that's the choice samara confronts you with. I thought it was the best ending ever to a horrormovie :-)
Ahwell... it's obvious we have very different opinions :-p But i'm glad i saw both versions anyway :-) When it gets released i'll absolutely buy the am. version on dvd aswell!
