i find it very interesting that there are as many people on
this board as there are that don't care for rdj and icbyd,
or at least don't place them highly on the list of
favs....personally i love rdj; it's very toyish and giddy,
while remaining sharply intelligent. many parts of it are
very simple and constant but never cross the line into
monotony, and contain melodies that move you but stay in
your head, executing perfectly the "less is more" idea....i
think icbyd is really inventive and thought provoking, but
it just doesn't affect me emotionally the way other aphex
albums do...it's more a mental stimulation than emotional
comfort, and certain parts of it seem to me to drag on a
bit. on a side note, while windowlicker is a helluva lot of
fun to listen to and pure genius in its underlying links to
hip hop, i fail to see it as even close to qualifying for
the top four albums of all. something about it feels hurried
yet idle for me....like maybe he was just cranking it out to
quickly, without much care for it. i dunno, i guess it all
goes to show just how different opinions and tastes are (all
these varied stances on this subject are refreshing imo)

Ok, just to remind you-

1) I agree that these two albums were greatly influencial
(on me included)
2) I never said I could do better
3) I simply think Druqks is much more accomplished, and
especially more well produced.
4) It's simply my opinion, and it's not right or wrong, just
my opinion.

To those who love them...why do you love them, apart from
the fact that they were greatly influencial?

But i saw you've earned yourself a gold star...

yeah.. since that gold star my daydreams 'bout becoming a
mod started again.. :D

i wear it all day long you know :) but as i said somewhere
else; if i see someone on this board doing/saying something
worthwhile (which is, as you all know, a rare phenomena
here) i'll give him/her my gold star,

although i would very much miss it :\

btw a person must at least have one 100+
thread one his name... otherwise you're not even worth a
paper star, but i think this won't be a problem for any of
you

*giggles*

morton a moderator...

*shudders*

I'm not sure if it would give me a safe feeling knowing you
are watching over us ;-) And would you be able to handle the
responsibilities? Would you?! :-p

Someone: "nah, i don't like radioactive man"
Morton: "You're banned!"

Someone else: "seinfeld sucks!"
Morton: "That's it! No xltronic for you! NEXT!"

"but i think this won't be a problem for any of you"

ho ho ho, heeeeeeelarious! You're such a funny man ;-D

But...

ehr...

well...

I've got more point than you! Ha! :-p And you've actually
been around longer than me! (i think)... so there!

Well Mr. surrounded if you would have taken the little
effort of looking at both our accounts (instead of lying in
bed the whole day), you would have noticed that surrounded
is member since:

2002-02-05 14:22

whereas our dear friend morton is only a member since:

2002-11-20 07:01

so literally translated from dutch, this sentence would
describe my feelings:

you can whistle at that gold star!

oftewel:

naar die gouden ster kun je fluiten!!!

when they were released.
for the new afx addicts, stop comparring the new ones with
the old ones because it doesnt make any sense!!

Well doing a little deskresearch before posting "And you've
actually
been around longer than me!"-kind-of-statements here
wouldn't hurt ;) :)

I remember you saying you 'didn't really like electro' and
didn't buy the radioactive man album when you saw it,
so if (and i'm talking about 90% chances here) i become a
mod in the near future, you'll be the first one i'll ban
mister :P

and i'm talking 'bout apermanent ban here of course
:D

..and you don't have to speak to phobiazero to do a good
word for me, 'cause he just emailed me a diamond star and
said: "you would make a perfect mod morton (or shall i call
you modton already?)" <-- that's what he said
literally

if i were you i'd see this as an official warning surrounded
:D so for crying out loud: BEHAVE!

..

of course this is all crap-talk (which everybody is already
used to when it's morton who's posting)
actually i think it's pretty cool that more people around
here (like you surrounded) actually like seinfeld, and of
course IDM
and so many people (like err.. well me and .. hmm i'm sure
there are some more..) have something useful to say about
it..

:)
:P

RDJ & ICBYD are both excellent albums. I think the RDJ
album is what defines his style best. Quick, hyper-complex
drums & melodic synths.

Haha, you really are a funny man. Our little discussions
always make me laugh out loud :-p

"Well doing a little deskresearch before posting "And

"

lol, well atleast i had the decency to add an "(i
think)
" to that statement. ;-) And in the end such minor
details as who got here first don't really matter. What
matters is who's got the most points baby :-p

"I remember you saying you 'didn't really like electro'
"

hm... yeah that's right. Did you actually remember that or
look it up?

"and didn't buy the radioactive man album when you
saw it
"

LOL! Well if you're gonna ban everyone who doesn't own the
radioactiveman-album this board's gonna be a lonely place
for you i think ;-)

I can count the person's i've ever heard talking about that
album on one finger :-p

""you would make a perfect mod morton (or shall i call
you modton already?)"

That's funny, he mailed me suggesting we refer to you as
moron from now on ;-)

And yes indeed you are right about the seinfeld-atmosphere
in here. Many many people love that show! :-D

Yeah, I just realized that... without those extra songs
tacked on, the album is way too short and pretty lacking...
but man, all those songs fit together so well into one bad
motherfucker album.

Drukqs sounds a bit too ''samey''... the songs on RDJ all
have their own unique sounds. Drukqs recycles a lot of synth
sounds and beats. If you just dropped me into the middle of
one of the hard songs, it'd take me a few seconds to figure
out which one it was, pretty ''samey''. The songs also tend
to drag on too long... RDJ is nice and concise.

Actually, I don't even know why I'm arguing, Drukqs is
probably my favorite IDM album.

it' weird how i find myself realizing that i dont like much

the fact that i used the term 'evolve' sounds pretentious
(evolution to me, implies a certain idea of progression).
let's just say my musical taste changed.

haha the conversation between Morton and Surrounded was
great, that kept making me laugh...

anyways, I knid of agree with the founder of this thread
here that rdj is less accomplished than drukqs. I really
hate the last few tracks on the cd (the girl\boy ep stuff ,
it sucks) but some of the tracks on rdj are great but I just
dont like it much as a whole. I like icbyd a lot better but
it still has some stuff that I dont like all that much.
drukqs, remains my favorite, saw 2 is my second favorite,
but drukqs is not samey to me, I really like the contrast in
the piano tracks and the drill n bass, its a nice fit no
matter what you guys say I'll never be
convinced!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ik studeer HLO-Chemie (Hoger Laboratorium Onderwijs) in
Eindhoven (4e jaars).

Your avatar is just right for a that statement ;-)
Imagine Kramer with TNT... making a face like that :-p

Anyway, i've heard about those flexible displays! In the
near future (or so the article said) we will have
televisions that you can roll up, and when you get home you
just put them on your wall like you would wallpaper...
hehe... it sounded rather fascinating!

Maybe one day we will all be viewing this site on monitors
that you developped ;-)
