Solaris = BAD!

it's obvious to me that the film was made with the intent of
being very open to interpretation. if we are used to
hollywood cinema then this is somewhat foreign to us. my
first response after seeing it was that it kinda sucked
because it didn't answer any questions, it only posed them,
but the problem wasn't the film, it was my expectations of
it. i've since bought it on dvd and it's one of my
favorites. it strikes me as being a very existential piece
of work, since, to me, the film is asks what's the
difference between perception and truth. and as someone said
earlier it's also very much about choices. i don't
personally think solaris was heaven, at least not the
judeo-christian vision of it. i don't have an explanation
for it, it just is. and, anyway, it's really only a
construct to explore the ideas presented earlier.

Yeah its totally open to interpretation. I think that's the
beauty of it... that solaris is left unfathomed. You're
kinda of left not knowing if it is physical or spiritual, or
even just physcological... It is a beautiful film, the sets
and graphics are gorgeous. I haven't seen the original... I
tried reading the book but I realised I'd rather be ignorant
and enjoy the inevitably flawed movie!!!

Evidently you have never heard the T-Raenon EP off the
OP-ART label by Photek. I bet after you heard those three
songs your opinion of him wouldn't be so negative.
