richard is really incredible, as he can be controversial
even among his fans discussing about the worst or the
best... his music has so many faces... he is a genious...

But Nacmat,"2 remixes" are just that, 2 remixes RDJ did for
2 different artists,so that won't count as his music,still
like they way he remixed them...Worst AT release????? I'll
have to go with Melodies from Mars...Because I even love how
he did the Pacman remix......

well dont take it so seriously, its a matter of taste and
its just that i like them less than the rest of things I
know...only that, which doesnt mean I dont like them...
anything from richard is genious compared to the rest
(except autechre which I prefer)

But Melodies from Mars was never released, so that can't be
counted as a 'release', can it?

Hmmm Corngrower,I think you're right,so that means have to
relly think hard if there's anything officially released
that I don't like about RDJ...Will let you all know
later.........

drukqs, followed by SAW2 then windowlicker

offline nacmat on 2002-06-09 10:47 [#00256793]
Points: 31271 Status: Lurker

you see:

drukqs, followed by SAW2 then windowlicker

I would never choose these ones as my less favourites.

you see how almost all of us have different opinions on our
woest release? when this question was made about AE
everybody had a similar opinion... cos though AE is great
(for me the best) they are not as "changy" and impredictable
as aphex

offline Deathsmith from Brussels (Belgium) on 2002-06-09 15:30 [#00256912]

SAW 2 is unbelievable!!! As a whole it is very different
than his other material. It doesn't rely on melody or
cohesive rythms. The sounds in this feel much more
organic. . . very reactionary and abrasive. Hard to
describe, but then, it wasn't made to be described so
easily. I don't even try to understand the music. I just
let it flow and enjoy it.

WTF are people talking about Vordhosbn being the worst?
WTF!??!

SERIOUSLY WTF?!?!

Vordhosbn kicks your ass (mentally), just because you cant
handle it doesn't mean it sucks. You pansies.

absolutely right, but remember that even though they like
it, maybe its the one they like less... worst is a word I
shouldnt have used in this thread

some reason. the simplicity, the innocence, the rarely used

at least your choice is not very popular, but taste is
taste, and aphex is so varied that his fans must have sooo
different taste

The worst afx-release is still ways better than the average
electronic release.

but it is better than anything its close to by other
artists....
if that makes any sense.

DrukQs is pretty bad, imo. I hated it at first, then I
started to like it, and then I compared it to Come To Daddy
and realized how much it sucks.

In my opinion, of course...

offline Deathsmith from Brussels (Belgium) on 2002-06-10 15:41 [#00258355]

WTF? Druqks is two discs, two hours of music, d00d!!!!
Come To Daddy is hal fan hour, so why would you compare the
two? And plus, needless to say, they have TOTALLY different
songs. . .

offline artemis from Ghent (Belgium) on 2002-06-10 15:42 [#00258357]

Drukqs must be great when Richard had made only one disc and
deleted the most pianoworks.

Thanks Vampireangel! I have some friends who plays classical
piano. Be sure they laugh at Richard with his nep
piano-sound.

I disagree with this one...The piano works is an integral
part of the whole cd...as I said before, every piano part has
its own treatment, you just have to listen to them more
closely.....They're good,because Drukqs without it,wouldn't
as good as it is,combining the best of RDJ,his signature
drill-n-bass sound and his electroacoustic
ambientworks....==)

i didnt know that the lengh of the cd had to do with its
quality

:-)

offline Deathsmith from Brussels (Belgium) on 2002-06-10 15:56 [#00258372]

It doesn't; the two things are completely unrelated.

An album can be crap even (or especially) if it's 80 minutes
long, or it can be absolutely phenomenal at half an hour
long (See Richard D. James the Album or Come To DAddy
Single.)

offline artemis from Ghent (Belgium) on 2002-06-10 15:57 [#00258375]

It's the same with SAWII, I think. It contains one of the
most beautifull outings of Richard together with very boring
stuff.

I totally agree but I said that cos you seemed to talk about
the lengh of drukqs as the proof of its quality:

"WTF? Druqks is two discs, two hours of music, d00d!!!!
Come To Daddy is hal fan hour, so why would you compare the

two?"

there are several universal indicators so which one?
besides not all the tracks in those releases are richard´s

offline artemis from Ghent (Belgium) on 2002-06-10 17:36 [#00258476]

Yeah, i think he has done 3 tracks on Red. And all the
tracks of Green. There are a few very cool tracks on it,
most tracks sucks and are totally dated at this time. Sorry
for the UI-lovers i say this.

offline Deathsmith from Brussels (Belgium) on 2002-06-10 18:10 [#00258526]
Points: 1027 Status: Regular

Well I was just pointing out that Druqks has 4 times as much
material as Come To Daddy. Plus Come To Daddy is
technically a cd-single anyway. . .

I mean, if I were to compare Come To Daddy to Druqks, I'd
probably conclude that Come To Daddy IS overall better, and
that's because I LOVE every single track, but there are only
eight tracks anyway!!! I'm sure if Come To Daddy had been
made into a 2 disc single with the same amount of material
as Druqks, I would think Druqks is better.

I like the piano songs... they might not be the most
complicated, but they're beautiful, and full of emotion...

See The_Funkmaster,that's what I wanted to say,but said it
on other words...If there wasn't for this pianoworks Drukqs
isn't the masterpiece that is.....Plus,as I said before,if
you listen carefully to the pianoworks, wich aren't
complicated at all,on the contrary, they're experimental and
simple, you will hear that they're treated differently in
some ways......==)

i like some of the piano songs, like the 9th tack on the
first disc, that's a nice song. and the last 2 songs on disc
2
