license, the mmt8 is great, very stable and easy to use, and the best flexibility for live performing with patterns, you should get one, better two. i dunno how big the memory is... and there are only 8 tracks one a pattern, sadly, 16 tracks would be nice... you can record and play all events (also sysex messages) on it, very important for me to switch from the alesis sequencer to the dr770 (switching master/slave)

Quoth, have you considered NATIVE INSTRUMENTS Battery, sampler software, or reaktor. You need a Pentium III though. It's so Tech. The Battery software is only $200. Or you could try to track down an older used akai or emu. You should also check out the EMU ESI 2000 and ESI 4000, good hard ware samplers. There cheap brand new! You should try to sell the Sp 202 and upgrade to the sp 303.

yeah dude... the e-mu stuff fucking rules... i need to invest in better stuff... but i enjoy the vintage stuff as well. however, there are limits to that little sp202 & 303.... i'd rather save up & get an Akai MPC3000 :)
