he repackaged old stories as in using archetypes, chris, I
was referring to someone saying he was being original

Sido: you are right on both points. But that doesn't change
much, does it?

If it wasn't Lucas it would have been someone else. He's a
bit of a money grabber though. Suing Dr Dre because a noise
at the start of his album sounded like Lucas' FX thingy is a
bit twatty no?

The blockbusters contribute to a culture where people don't
question, just mindlessly consume what is offered. This is
what frustrates me. I like critical art, art that you get
something out of, something that grates against the status
quo.

Then again they could be taken as an analogy of US
imperialism and liberation movements.

I think we can just put this down to a matter of taste. Some
people like things others dont. I mean, Without Jar Jar, I
cant give one of my mates an insulting nickname!!! :)

well if im right , why should erasing Lucas from history be
a good thing ?

i think it would be a horrible thing.

However, let's not forget that these films fed my early
sexual experiences.

Stop watching those blockbusters. They reduce your capacity
to think.

LOL. But seriously, I looove star wars but have no doubts
about their bad influence on our culture, for a lot of
reasons. Pop culture in general has a lot of good things
going for it but a lot of horrible ones too.

I love alternative films. I mainly enjoy watching manga and
martial arts coz I like anylysing the techniques. I dont go
to see a movie coz it's popular, I see it if I think I'll
enjoy it... snot a crime... I've not seen oceans 11.

i'm affraid maho & jonesy are absolutely right, even if i
also like the old starwars, imagine one second the numbers
of children who are TOO DEEP into starwars, taking it as a
refuge(?) and closing themselves in this universe, i hope
this makes sense...

It just a film surely.... Sure I'm addicted to Aphex but you

about anything in the world ever.

That was extreme but you know what I meant.
