I was at Uni for 5 years. Pretty directionless, cos I didnt do a placement year. Just did the course so that i could get the free money and buy myself some time/freedom & not have to work. I can see already, as a working person, that they were the best and most special days of my life. And I didnt take them for granted. They went so quick, but i appreciated them fully.
I had my friends living with me, a decent internet connection, with food, clothes and shelter over my lazy ass head. It was perfect, and i couldlive that until i die if only feasible.
Still, i appreciate your point, and i guess there has to be a balance. Some peoples personality requires for them to be needed to work to contribute to society. I dont just join the dole and do the same shit out of a kind of pride installed in me, and the fact i have a fiancee to answer to.
When you work, free time goes SOOOO quick. its disgusting, a waste of life.
Hmmm.

yeah think about it, people work not out of desire to be like everyone else, but because in today's world you HAVE to work to survive, unless you're some kind of savant with society like that guy in 'catch me if you can'. i mean i respect people that work because it shows that they're taking the time out, their soul, their energy w/e you call it, and they're actually maintaining a life for themselves to witness beauty, or to raise a family, or to just be alive. People who are working just to work really are just ignorant to the fact that they are dispensable.

Yeah, that's the thing that I dislike most aboout religion. It pre-conditions people to practice under that religion, so even if you don't want to, peer pressure and something inside you that you had no control over the development of, say you should. :/
I know what you mean about the neighbour- it is hard not to get dragged down by such people. My supervisor at work drags me down sometimes when he talks about stuff such as his prediction that the world will run out of resources in 30 years, lol. It sounds funny now, but him talking at me for so long wears down my resistance and I start to believe his bullshit. Yesterday he was talking to me about humans growing gills...
I hope you realise your dream of starting a business. What kind of business do you want to start? It will be good to avoid tax, but you will have to keep meticulous records and business may be shaky- worrying about it could keep you up a lot of nights. Sorry to say things like this, but I just think you should be aware. Maybe have a fun, easy part time job and then have your own small business too. That way you could retain some job security, at least. But also have some degree of independance. Wow- that was pretty good, I could be a careers advisor! :)
ANyway, I hope things turn out for the best for you my friend.

The alternative to work isn't just idleness. To be ludic is not to be quaaludic. As much as I treasure the pleasure of torpor, it's never more rewarding than when it punctuates other pleasures and pastimes. Nor am I promoting the managed time-disciplined safety-valve called "leisure"; far from it. Leisure is nonwork for the sake of work. Leisure is the time spent recovering from work and in the frenzied but hopeless attempt to forget about work. Many people return from vacation so beat that they look forward to returning to work so they can rest up. The main difference between work and leisure is that work at least you get paid for your alienation and enervation.
Wow, even leisure is criticised! :O
But I understand the context. Everything is work, or work impacts everything, even leisure time.

Yeah, man i'm well looking forward to Ponyo! Its a shame that Miley Cyrus' little shit sister, and the youyngest fucking Jonas Brother are doing the main english dubs, but on the plus side, Ghibli isnt now owned by Disney, they just distribute Ghibli in the western world. In theory this should make Ghibli films cross over into the mainstream, but they're just too weird and wonderful; even 'Spirited Away' winning an oscar couldnt do it really.
Yeah, I hope Ponyo is great. Looks insane in the trailer. More child-orientated definitely, but then so was a certain other Ghibli film...

AH, right. I should get my facts right, hehe. I just saw the two names together and became unhappy. Cos they own Pixar, right? Another bad thing.
Yeah, I guess you're right- Ghibli will neve be mainstream. Popular enough for them to continue to make movies, but non-mainstream enough to be known only by cool enough people I hope. ;)
Yeah, I wasn't too happy about the dubbing. My friend prefers the dubbed versions. He liked the cat-king dubbed voice in The Cat Returns. It is very different to the Japanese one- sounds like a Jazz musician, which I am not sure if it fits... What do you think? Or do you never use the dubbed versions?
Ponyo looks good. Pretty much every Ghibli movie is child orientated, isn't it? :/

I guess all Ghibli movies are made predominantly for children. But i guess i just mean that 'Mononoke', 'Howl's' etc. all seem a little more mature, and maybe aimed at families, where as 'Totoro' and 'Ponyo' seem more simplified and easier to understand for younger children. I dont know, i'mprobably talkin shit. Who cares, they're all wonderful! :D
About the dubs, i have seen a couple Ghibli's in both subtitled and english dub forms. They are slightly different translations at times, which puts a different spin on exactly the same visuals, which is fun. I would say i just about prefer english dub, cos they're generally pretty decent, and its better than having to read.
Yeh, I think Disney actually own Pixar, but they seem to let them get on with their own thing. 'Wall-E' was awesome, and loking forward to 'Up'

Yeah, I see what you mean. Mononoke is aimed at older people as well as kids. It is quite deep in parts.
I still prefer Jap audio with Eng subtitles, but I do see what you mean- it is easier without subs.
I thought that too- Pixar doesn't seem to be affected by being owned by Disney.
Tell me what Ponyo is like if you see it afore me! ^^

get a pet or some kids or get involved n charity to take the emphasis off you, because hardly anyone cares about individual "you"s apart from "you"
