the good thing about techs are that there's a fuckload of
spare-parts available. you could almost build one from
scratch

I wouldn't sell the S6000 if I were you! Get a flash card
reader for it and you're sorted!

I bought a S5000 from a bloke in a record shop for £500
about 7/8 years ago and love it, only thing it's missing is
removable screen, a la S6000.
I took out the floppy drive and replaced it with a similar
form factor SCSI card reader. Now I have a 4gig compact
flash card hard disk. Hot swappable (after "ejecting" it),
don't even bother with the ak.sys USB any more!

Out of interest, how much are you selling the S6000 for?
I've seen some crazy prices for hardware samplers recently,
e.g. £10 for a S950!

i know, i don't wanna sell it but i really need the money to
be honest :-/

well i dunno what i'd get for it, the hard drive in it isn't
working at the moment (i'm sure it's just a dead hard
drive). everything else in it is working fine.

you're right though, £10 for an S650 is fucking
insane...wish i'd grabbed one!

mac's vs pc's conjures similarities between axis and allied
forces in ww2, respectively, think about it...

get a direct drive turntable not belt drive

get a technics sl-1210 mk5

the only other option would to be to try a QFO

the older technics direct drives you can pick up for 5 bux
at a garage sale and they are great too, ask dj kool herc or
grandmaster flasher

vinyl is truly another world, those who talked about its
magic, about its sound, about the fact that with digital
music you're encouraged to skip tracks without enjoying a
record, those guys were all damn right. listening to an
album didn't feel this way since years around here, which i
spent more at collecting shit rather then listening, with
the obsession of downloading the last fancy shit and all.
today i played 4 LPs, rather mainstream shit, one by Bob
Marley, one by Cat Stevens, the Dark Side of the Moon and
the old skool one i bought, never heard hi-hats like this
before, same for a voice, or a guitar. fuck the mp3
collection and thanks to all those who pushed the vinyl
support on this board.
