Yep, im considering buying one of thier albums, probably the
newest one. Refused were great, but i think splitting was
the best thing for them. I wouldnt have wanted to top the
shape of punk to come
.

spookyluke, you generate the aura of being an ignorant prick
- your outlook seems to be entirely composed of stereotypes
- which certainly points to a lack of any kind of real
experience, since unbiased experience helps break thru the
endless rows of pigeonholes. and that added to your
pomposity and patronising bilge, and the fact you're not
really interested in what punk is, certainly seems to
indicate a lack of any real intelligence

I think he has 'some real intelligence', but I am at odds
with his perspective. For every incredibly silly wildly
negative opinion voiced here there always seems to be an
equally silly 'you have no intelligence' response.

I HATE PUNK!!!!! I do... as far as I'm concerned its total
crap, and I don't care what anyone else thinks cause it's
just my opinion... if you like it, fine... but I think it's
loud, annoying, crap crap, and more crap!!!!! I hate it!!! I
don't care personally that it's "more then the music" or
whatever... I still hate it...

it's all opinion here guys... remember that... when someone
says "Punk Sucks" or something like that, you don't need to
pounce on him and say he has no intelligence and is
stupid... it's just his opinion that punk sucks...

yes that's why i am, too -- it's not because he has a
differing opinion to me; that would mean i had fascistic
tendancies. it was the fact he was so unrelentingly arrogant
that irked me. i have always believed that people who think
they are superior automatically judge themselves, and find
themselves guilty of being unintelligent and inferior.

like i always say - don't judge people, wait for them to
judge themselvesâ„¢

bands like the Sex Pistols. I really like Sublime but I
don't know if that's punk, probably not...

any musical progress in all those years. Its funny to see
how so many young people are still stuck in this lame 70s
movement........

Here's my conclusion to this dreaded "punk" topic:
I think everything "punk" I've heard is absolutely
intolerable. I disagree with everyone who claims punk is
more than music, as I hold firmly the belief that punk is
much, much less than music. I like other kinds of music,
not just "IDM" or call it what you like. I listen to a
great variety of things. Everything from something like
Pavarotti to Aphex Twin. I like music that conveys emotion
or talent. Playing instruments, however, is less of an
artistic talent and more of a physical one. I like the
artistic brainwork of music. I like thinking outside of the
box and hearing sounds that aren't possible from human
musicians. I like lyrics and vocals that have depth and
meaning. I like well-thought-out instrumentation and
records with insight. I'm not, in any way, stereotyping
"punk." I happen to dislike the things others stereotype as
punk. It's all awful to me, and others will back me up on
this. Don't go off and call my opinion biased or
stereotypical, please.

... No, it's supposed to be "amaze." He was correct. He
said, "Your spelling and word placement amazes me." In that
sentence, "spelling" amazes him and so does "word
placement."

if you got off your high-horse for a second, and deigned to
consort with those lowly serfs who couldn't possibly enjoy
music like you do, then maybe you would see past your deeply
ingrained prejudice - you aren't so enlightened you know.
simplicity is quite often the key - it is not the adding or
the thought that counts, but the stripping away and the
action that prevails. so go on thinking "outside of the box"
with your pretentious cronies - thanks for lowering yourself
to visit us commoners on this messageboard.

punk is about class war. the struggle between the lower
class and the upper class. maybe that's why so many of you
on here hate it becuase you have a silver fuckin' spoon up
your fuckin' panzy asses. and maybe thats why it seems to
have so much more meaning to us here in north america
because there is a bigger gap between the have and the have
nots. all you fuckin' lil rich kids with all your lil
fuckin' techno fuckin' gear. no wonder you have no interest
in punk because it doesn't stir up feelings inside of you.
what do you have to be upset about you go to a perfectly
good school and work at a normal job to lead your normal lil
fuckin' lives. just as long as the queen (RxIxPx) doesn't
take away your right to d/l along with all the other fuckin'
freedoms she's done away with (i.e. your fuckin' privacy
man) you will be happy! that's why you guys lost the
fuckin' colonies 'cause you're a bunch of fuckin' sissy
la-la's. over here, we actually stand up to injustices.
and that is why punk connects to me and maybe not so much or
at all for you.

Marlowe, relax, chief. This is a message board, on a server
far remote from your home, most-likely. I am one of
six-hundred-plus users whose opinion differs from your own.
I felt like voicing mine, on of all places, a message board.
You don't need to dispute my opinion, do you? Where do you
get that I'm pretentious? Pretentious means self-absorbed,
caring for onself highly. I'm here to talk with others
whose musical opinions may be similar to mine, if not, that
makes it interesting--the contrast. Yours doesn't, fine,
but just accept that we have different thoughts instead of
calling me an idiot.

please don't patronise me by calling me "chief" - and please
don't accuse me of calling you an idiot - i would
NEVER honour you with that title

pretentious doesn't mean self-absorbsed and caring for
oneself highly - that is egoism or narcissism.

as i said before, a person voicing their opinion is
something i wouldn't stop, even if they said all wogs must
die.

check back and you will find out what caused me to post

Thanks, Marlowe.
And as far as your petty need to correct other people's
English, yours is wrong.
"a person voicing their opinion."
Their? Ick. Who are you? Jane Austen? What posses one to
use singular their? It's wrong, always. Correctly, it
would be "a person voicing his opinion" even if the person
happens to be female.

spookyluke,

I think a lot of us here could respect your opinion but when
start a topic off call Punk sucks your going to get some
heated replies. it may be better to understand how musical
styles contrast between each other. even then that doesn't
mean you have to like it, just respect it for what it is.
