recycle, i am a huge aphex twin fan. but i was not a raver
in the early 90s and late 80s and have very little
appreciation for most of the classic tracks aphex spins in
his sets, and the non classic ones are very non descript
dance floor friendly drum and bass and techno, not even
catchy enough for me to consider a guilty pleasure download.
It just confuses me to no end how someone capable of the
genius masterpiece 'Rushup Edge' and 'Confederation Trough'
Would fly all the way out to california just to dj this type
of music.
im sure hes having fun doing it, but it actually kind of
scares me and makes me worried that he really doesnt have
any new music made or is making it so slowly he doesnt have
it ready for a live show. The stuff on Rushup edge, at least
some of it was 3 years old when it was released, but since
it's release i've only heard maybe 1 unreleased Afx song in
Rdj's dj sets. and yes that worries the fuck out of me

i wish that was the biggest worry in my life.

"i... have very little appreciation for most of the
classic tracks aphex spins in his sets
" AKA you don't
like music.

offline jackeroffer from Aruba on 2008-05-05 14:59 [#02202541]

i just like good quality electronic music (ie tuss), not
shit that i had to take E and acid in 1990 at a rave to
enjoy now.

so basically you just don't want him to play dj sets at
all?

cuz spinning a bunch of your own tracks just kind of makes
you look like a tool.

offline SlipDrinkMats from Thanks (Bhutan) on 2008-05-05 15:30 [#02202557]

"not shit that i had to take E and acid in 1990 at a rave
to
enjoy now. "
AKA you don't like music.

And yes, I will keep saying that.

and cos that 90s stuff has more soul than tuss, but then
again, one may perceive music differently than another.

Points: 1038 Status: Lurker | Followup to hedphukkerr: #02202555

i would like him to play more live shows yeah.
and i wouldn't think aphex was a tool for djing his own
stuff and/or stuff thats as or close to as interesting as
his own music.

offline jackeroffer from Aruba on 2008-05-05 15:42 [#02202561]
Points: 1038 Status: Lurker

i cant be alone on the opinion that Aphex twin needs to make
more and play out his own music more often, unless the
fanboyism has gotten so extremely thick that no one could
possibly criticize his actions (even if his actions run
counter to the idea that i would assume most fanboys would
really prefer)

offline hedphukkerr from mathbotton (United States) on 2008-05-05 15:45 [#02202563]

i just wonder how many beard-strokingly contemplative live
sets the man could take - seems like he's out to have fun
more than anything. he don't owe you shit!

the fanboy is the guy that keeps yelling "yeah!" in the set.

good set. i stopped listening to afx lives after he was into
that faggot acid house shit. hated that.

reminds me a lot of the infamous pukkelpop set with luke
vibert when it comes to amount of styles he implemented in
it.

although imho his selection gets poor with the time.
pukkelpop was only classics. with the great unreleased
ceephax track. and now noisia ? aw come on.

djotomi2501,
it's f ission kru (song title left out); you won't find
anything on the nets about it, i'm told. it's the elephant
song (afx) scream in that track, and it's made in my
home-town.

the orig track is dope! PM me for details.

wicked

please someone know the track 12:18 -- the cool house one?
and from 24:03 seems kinda 'the mover'?
and the jungle track is the best too!
