obviously this was wrong. GESCOM - very overrated Aleksi Perala - very underrated Squarepusher - latest 2 releases aren't as good as early releases µ-Ziq - very influential, some people need to know his work :'( |

Stop that. Squarepusher isn't that good... i'm getting bored with many of his releases. Gescom is maybe not really better, but Aphex Twin, BOC or Autechre are far before Tom J. IMHO. |

boc: they have done nothing since 2002 and apart from that what they had done before is nice, but very little and always the same gescom: I believe they shouldnt have taken place in this comp as they are a side project by autechre... but people wanted so... aphex: only one ep in 3 years is too poor to get to the semifinals in 2004, no matter how much I like his music __________________________________________________ uziq: one of the most underrated artists here, and probably the most talented with aphex, but he has released as muziq and as kid spatula and both are great releaes, not to talk about his back catalogue which is tremendous venetian snares: as much as some may hate him, he is the strongest new talent out there... he just started releasing stuff in 2001 and he is really prolific, but in this 3-4 years he has put out some great albums and some magnificent eps (songs about my cats, doll doll doll, wiboas, giant alien, moonglow....) defineteluy the most growing artist nowadays squarepusher: for me he is a genious, he has a great back catalogue with masterpieces such as hard normal daddy, feed me weird things and music is rotted one note, but then in 2001 he makes an excellent funky album (go plastic) and now he does this eclectic (kind of career summary) album which I consider one of the best of 2004.... I htink he should have wined this year. |

i'm here just for a fast visit... well, i'm really surprise about GESCOM anyway they did a good job in this championship. I'm sad for Squarepusher (he deserved to pass 'cos ultravisitor is a great release). Remember... on Monday... Semifinals. |

Today and Tomorrow are free days for our champions who are trying to relax... Gescom guys (and are a lot) are relaxing in a big swimming pool with very cold water, in an unknown place... Aphex Twin is driving his TANK in center of London just for relax his mind. It seems police don't try to stop him. Autechre (Rob and Sean) are playing like mad to Metroid Prime and Rob seems better than Sean. Boards of Canada are lie down in a big green park with a fresh beer in their hands, they like to listen nature's melodies. |

It doesn't matter who wins really... what is annoying is that if Gescom wasn't Sean and Rob, not only would people have not have heard of them, they wouldn't have even given them a listen or be rating it on the fact that it IS Autechre just under another name. Shambles. |

cos astrobotnia series are shit and therefore didn't make it on the list? that doesn't mean gescom are any better though :) i saw them live last year...but it was only rob hall with a dj set, which was crap. |

It seems that people voted for the artists they prefer for their all carriers and not for last months releases... But this championship wasn't for those last months... this can explain why Squarepusher didn't qualify. I think that AFX, Boards of Canada and Autechre deserve to take part in semi-final. The thing is less obvious for Gescom. In Fact i would rather have prefered to see artists like Fennesz, cause Autechre's sound and Gescom's one are really near. Squarepusher ? Yes maybe he should have been in semi-final... but i voted Gescom coz those days I don't really listen to IDM but rather pop music or experimental electronica (but calm one) and Squarepusher bores me a little (I hope it won't last too long). Good luck to Gescom for semi-final, but i think they won't be i final... We will see. |
