Dvorak - Concerto for Cello and Orchestra in b minor, Op.
104

I saw this performed live earlier this year by the
Charleston Symphony and guest cellist Daniel Muller-Schott:
it was unbelievably moving, especially the first section of
the second movement (adagio).

Einsturzende Neubauten - Haus Der Luge

Picked this one up today on a whim, as I have never really
heard E.N. before. This is my second time listening to it
and I'm glad I decided to get it. Interesting. I may have to
pick up one of their earlier noisier albums for comparision
though.

Frank Bretschneider's Curve album. It's minimal but it has
some nice structure and rhythm. Nice for when you want to be
kept awake but you're trying to concentrate on something
else.

Joni Mitchell - For Free

I slept last night in a good hotel
I went shopping today for jewels
The wind rushed around in the dirty town
And the children let out from school
I was standing on a noisy corner
Waiting for the walking green
Across the street he stood
And he played real good for free

Me I play for fortunes
And those velvet curtain calls
I've got a black limousine and two gentlemen
Escorting me to the halls
And I play if you have the money
Or if you're a friend to me
But the one-man band by the quick lunch stand
He was playing real good for free

Nobody stopped to hear him
Though he played so sweet and high
They knew he had never been on their TV
So they passed his music by
I meant to go over and ask for a tune
Maybe put on a harmony
But I heard his refrain as the signal changed
He was playing real good for free

Isan - Twentyfive Thirtyone

This Salamander album isn't as good as the Digitalis EP but
as I've mentioned before, the first Isan you hear is the
best Isan because their stuff is pretty uniform. I mean it's
good but they could stand to stretch a little.

_user, I can't believe Panasonic are still going. I heard a
Peel Session back in 1995, and it was rubbish! No tune, no
rhythmn, just very sparse and boring sub-autechre rip-off.
But maybe they are better now.

It's not meant to have anything in common with Autechre
whatsoever. You have to listen to it alone on a winter night
in a quiet house to really get it.
